PMS 2133 C from the Pantone PMS collection is a highly saturated, dark purple with a violet character. The color has a vivid, technical, and bold vibe, making it operationally significant for marketing environments, displays, and brand settings where strong color differentiation and recognition are required.

PMS 2133 C appears dark, with an LRV of 9.78, which means it provides limited reflectance and a deep appearance. The color exhibits a cool tendency due to its hue position in the violet spectrum. PMS 2133 C is characterized by high saturation, giving it a strong chromatic presence in real-world applications. This color contains subtle blue undertones, contributing to its cool, violet character. The appearance of PMS 2133 C can shift noticeably under different lighting types; color rendering is sensitive to ambient light temperature.

PMS 2133 C works well in projects where a vivid, recognizable purple is needed for branding, feature walls, identity signage, or environments aiming for standout visual impact. Assess application surfaces for uniform color absorption, as highly saturated purples can show unevenness if substrate preparation is inconsistent. Dark, saturated colors like this one may require multiple coats for full visual depth, especially in lighter or high-gloss finishes, and perceived hue can vary under warm or cool lighting.

Similar colors:
PMS 2612 C is similar but is darker and slightly less saturated, resulting in a more muted purple appearance.

PMS 2597 C is somewhat lighter and exhibits a warmer, slightly more red-biased undertone compared to PMS 2133 C.

PMS 266 C is lighter and less chromatic, making it a softer option within the purple spectrum.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 2133 C

Can Pantone PMS 2133 C be directly matched to colors from other paint brands?

Pantone PMS 2133 C does not have a reliable direct equivalent in other paint brand collections. Most paint brands create unique color palettes and their systems are not designed to match the vivid, highly saturated hues found in Pantone PMS colors like 2133 C. Cross-referencing may result in noticeable differences, especially for branding projects where exact color appearance is critical. For brand consistency, always specify the Pantone PMS reference and avoid relying on unofficial equivalents.

What should I know about coverage when using Pantone PMS 2133 C in paint?

Pantone PMS 2133 C is a highly saturated dark violet purple, and like many vivid Pantone colors, it may require additional coats to achieve even coverage and visual depth. The deep, bold pigmentation means that imperfections or inconsistent substrate preparation can show through more readily. For best results, prepare surfaces carefully and plan for two or more coats, especially over light or contrasting backgrounds or when a high-gloss finish is used.

When is it recommended to sample Pantone PMS 2133 C before full-scale application?

Sampling Pantone PMS 2133 C is strongly advised for high-visibility branding projects, large installations, or any application where lighting and substrate differences could affect the appearance of this saturated, violet purple. Variations in lighting and surface can shift how PMS 2133 C is perceived, so producing a sample on the intended substrate and under actual lighting conditions helps confirm the color meets visual standards before you proceed with larger quantities.

How do I obtain the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for Pantone PMS 2133 C paint?

The Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for Pantone PMS 2133 C paint depends on the specific product type and format, such as spray paint or housepaint. The SDS is not determined by the color code but by the paint product itself. To find the correct SDS, visit the SDS library for the product you plan to use in PMS 2133 C and search by product type. Always review the SDS before use to ensure safe handling and compliance.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 2133 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 2133 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 2133 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
