Pantone™ PMS 2198 C

Primer may be required for PMS 2198 C depending on the substrate and the type of paint being used. Bare, porous, or high-contrast surfaces often need primer to ensure good adhesion and achieve accurate color appearance, especially since deep, saturated blues like PMS 2198 C can be less opaque. A primer also helps prevent bleed-through from underlying colors. Always review the substrate and select the appropriate primer if uniform coverage and color fidelity are critical for your project.

PMS 2198 C is a Pantone PMS specification that does not reliably convert to other paint brand palettes. Each paint manufacturer creates its own color standards, and there are no exact equivalents for vivid Pantone hues like PMS 2198 C. For brand consistency and visual accuracy, order paint made to match PMS 2198 C directly rather than relying on cross-references, which may differ in appearance and performance.

PMS 2198 C can be matched in multiple product formats, including spray paint, paint pens, and brush-in-cap bottles, as well as coatings such as interior or exterior housepaint where offered. Choose the format that fits your application and project size. For branding, marketing, or prototype uses, spray paint and paint pens are commonly selected for their convenience and consistent color delivery.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
