PMS 2115 C from the Pantone PMS system is a vivid, slightly dark magenta-purple with a distinctly saturated and cool appearance. It is frequently selected in branding and marketing settings where a memorable, energetic, and modern color signal is required. The vibe is assertive, technical, and contemporary, often lending itself to high-visibility graphics, experiential marketing, and product prototyping.

PMS 2115 C is moderately dark, with an LRV of 20.73.

The color has a cool undertone due to its magenta and purple composition.

PMS 2115 C is highly saturated, offering a vivid chromatic presence.

This color features a prominent magenta-to-purple hue, situated in the violet-red sector.

The color’s appearance can shift slightly in different finishes; glossier finishes enhance its depth and saturation, while matte finishes may reduce vibrancy.

PMS 2115 C performs well in applications that require visual intensity and brand distinctiveness, such as retail displays, exhibit elements, and prototype components. Surface and finish selection should take into account the color’s saturation and relatively low light reflectance, as high-gloss finishes can increase perceived vibrancy, while matte finishes can mute the effect. Lighting can significantly affect the apparent depth and coolness of this hue. Application on smooth, primed surfaces will yield the most even appearance; due to its saturated nature, confirm sufficient coverage, as multiple coats may be needed for full opacity.

Similar colors:

  • PMS 2062 C – Similar hue but appears deeper and slightly darker, with more pronounced blue undertones.
  • PMS 2133 C – Slightly lighter and redder, with less coolness in tone.
  • PMS 2425 C – Darker and more muted, with increased depth but less vibrancy.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 2115 C

Will PMS 2115 C provide full coverage in a single coat, or should I plan for extra coats?

Because PMS 2115 C is a vivid and highly saturated magenta-purple, you should expect that full, uniform coverage may require more than one coat. Bright and saturated Pantone colors like PMS 2115 C naturally have lower hide, especially over light or contrasting surfaces. Planning for extra coats will help you achieve solid, brand-accurate color impact. Testing on your actual substrate is recommended before full application.

What should I consider when applying PMS 2115 C to plastics or low energy surfaces?

If you are applying PMS 2115 C to plastics or low-surface-energy materials, keep in mind that some plastics may not accept paint well without special preparation. Many plastics need a dedicated adhesion primer before color application. For best results, test PMS 2115 C paint on your actual plastic material and confirm proper adhesion and appearance before starting production or large-scale work.

What is the best way to compare PMS 2115 C color samples for brand approval?

To make a reliable approval decision on PMS 2115 C samples, compare all samples side by side under the same lighting, on the same substrate, and only after the coatings have dried or fully cured. This helps avoid differences caused by gloss, wetness, or lighting changes, giving an accurate sense of whether PMS 2115 C meets your brand expectations.

Should I use a matte or gloss finish for PMS 2115 C in a brand display application?

The choice between matte and gloss for PMS 2115 C depends on the desired visual impact and environment. Gloss finishes will enhance the depth and chroma of PMS 2115 C, making the color appear more vibrant and intense, but may show glare under direct lighting. Matte finishes reduce glare and reflections but can slightly mute the vividness of the color. Consider how lighting, viewing angles, and intended visual punch fit your brand standards before deciding.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 2115 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

Most people don't use a primer for a touch up paint application, but a primer may improve adhesion and is typically recommended for exterior applications.
How do I convert PMS 2115 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 2115 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
