PMS 8281 C is part of the Pantone PMS collection, which provides standardized colors for branding, marketing, and display fabrication. This color presents a metallic, blue-leaning green impression with a cool, technical, and bold vibe. Its moderately low light reflectance and shimmer make it a strong choice for drawing attention on displays or product surfaces while maintaining an industrial, contemporary appearance.
PMS 8281 C appears dark to medium in value, with a relatively low LRV of 23.91. The color demonstrates a distinctly cool undertone, positioned visually near blue-green with a pronounced metallic sheen. PMS 8281 C exhibits moderate chroma, showing noticeable but not extreme saturation. The color reads as clean and vivid in controlled conditions, but finish and lighting can affect metallic highlights and surface depth. The metallic nature of PMS 8281 C increases its sensitivity to directional lighting and gloss level.
PMS 8281 C is most effective when used as a feature or accent color in environments where its metallic, cool-toned blue-green can contribute visual energy and technical appeal. This color is subject to noticeable shifts based on lighting, gloss, and substrate; evaluating a physical sample under intended conditions is essential, especially for color-critical applications. Its moderate darkness and metallic composition may require attention to surface preparation and optimized application methods to ensure even reflectance.

PMS 8232 C: Darker and more muted, providing a deeper, more industrial metallic teal.

No publicly documented brands, teams, or institutions are specifically associated with Pantone PMS 8281 C. However, this color is tailored for projects that require a strong, metallic blue-green with visual energy, such as branded displays, environments, or prototypes. Always confirm with your brand guidelines or inquire with project stakeholders if a specific Pantone color use is mandated for your application.
Choosing between matte and gloss for PMS 8281 C depends on your environment and branding goals. Gloss finish enhances the metallic effect and makes colors appear more saturated and impactful, especially under directional lighting, but it also increases glare and can exaggerate surface imperfections. Matte reduces glare and creates a softer, more uniform look, but may lessen the punch of the metallic highlights. If displays are under strong lighting or viewed from multiple angles, consider how much glare is acceptable versus the desired visual energy. Requesting a small sample in both finishes under your project lighting is the best way to make a confident decision.
To compare PMS 8281 C samples accurately, use consistent lighting matched to where the color will appear. Always compare samples on the intended substrate, since the metallic finish can look different on various materials. Allow coatings to fully dry or cure before evaluation, as appearance can change during drying. Viewing multiple samples side by side under project conditions helps confirm visual consistency and acceptance before full production.
For large-scale applications of PMS 8281 C, plan for a consistent method and number of coats, as metallic finishes can reveal unevenness more than standard colors. Work in controlled sections, maintaining a wet edge to avoid lap marks. Use the same batch of product when possible, and apply under similar lighting and temperature conditions. Surface preparation is important for metallic colors so address any imperfections before painting for best results.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 8281 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
