Pantone™ PMS 8001 C

The appearance of PMS 8001 C can change noticeably with different sheen levels. A higher-gloss finish will make the metallic effect more pronounced and can increase the perceived brightness and saturation. In contrast, a matte or lower-sheen version of PMS 8001 C will appear more subdued and may look darker or less vibrant. When comparing finishes such as gloss versus matte, even though the same color target is used, PMS 8001 C may look like a different color under some lighting conditions. For brand-critical projects, always specify both color and finish, and evaluate a physical sample under intended lighting to ensure visual alignment with expectations.

When selecting PMS 8001 C for an interior project, most paint types offered for this color will be suitable if the installation is not exposed to weather or direct sunlight. For outdoor or exterior use, choose a paint specifically formulated for exterior applications to ensure durability and color retention in changing weather conditions. Always match the paint type to your exposure needs to maintain both the appearance and performance of PMS 8001 C in your brand displays or installations.

PMS 8001 C is commonly used in prototypes and concept models when visual brand alignment is important. For accurate evaluation, select a format that closely mimics your end-use product, such as spray paint or custom finishing on representative materials. Be sure to assess the metallic effect and color under project lighting, as the finish and substrate can affect perception. Sampling PMS 8001 C is strongly recommended for high-visibility brand projects, large installations, or situations where lighting or substrate may influence the final look. The metallic nature of this color means application method, surface preparation, and lighting can all affect its appearance. Ordering a sample allows approval of both the color and finish under real project conditions, helping to avoid costly errors or brand inconsistencies later in production.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
