PMS 7546 C is part of the Pantone Matching System (PMS), which is widely used for brand and marketing applications requiring precise, consistent color reproduction. PMS 7546 C presents as a deep, restrained blue with a distinctly cool and muted character. The color vibe is solid, technical, authoritative, understated, and modern.

PMS 7546 C appears very dark, with a low light reflectance value (LRV) of 6.65. The color maintains a cool temperature with pronounced blue undertones. PMS 7546 C shows low chroma, resulting in a subdued, muted appearance rather than a vivid or saturated blue. The undertone is stable, leaning toward a true blue rather than green or purple. This color may be sensitive to finish choice, appearing even deeper and more severe in high-gloss applications and potentially flatter or dustier in matte finishes.

PMS 7546 C functions well where a deep, neutral blue is required to support strong brand presence or create a backdrop with visual weight. It is suitable for signage, displays, and architectural elements that require a modern and controlled palette. When specifying this color, review samples under final lighting conditions, as very dark tones can shift slightly in hue and lose detail in low light. Ensure uniform surface preparation to prevent uneven appearance, especially in large fields or matte finishes. This color behaves more neutrally compared to blues with green or violet shifts, offering a dependable, understated result.

Similar colors:
PMS 7545 C – Slightly lighter and less muted, offering a less dense appearance.

PMS 7547 C – Even darker and more neutral, with less visible blue and more subtle color presence.

PMS 2965 C – Displays a similar darkness but has a higher chroma, resulting in a bluer and more vivid look.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7546 C

Why is it important to use licensed and authorized paint for Pantone PMS 7546 C?

Pantone PMS 7546 C is a standardized color defined by Pantone for brand-critical applications. Using licensed and authorized paint ensures your order is based on official Pantone specifications, providing reliable and consistent color reproduction for branding, displays, and marketing environments. MyPerfectColor is authorized to reproduce Pantone PMS colors in paint, which supports strong visual brand alignment and reduces risk of color mismatch compared to non-licensed interpretations.

Can I use Pantone PMS 7546 C as a standard for touch-up on manufactured parts?

Pantone PMS 7546 C is a brand color standard and is best used for applications focused on consistent visual appearance, such as displays, signage, or prototypes. For touch-up or repair on existing factory-coated parts, color and finish can vary from the Pantone reference due to OEM formulas and specific manufacturing conditions. If precise touch-up on a finished part is required, it is recommended to send a physical sample to ensure the closest possible match, rather than relying solely on the Pantone PMS 7546 C standard.

How can I use Pantone PMS 7546 C for prototyping or concept models to ensure accurate brand color representation?

Pantone PMS 7546 C is frequently specified in prototype and concept model workflows to communicate brand intent visually. When selecting paint for these models, choose the most appropriate format such as spray paint, paint pens, or brush-in-cap bottles depending on scale and substrate. Evaluate painted samples under lighting conditions similar to the intended display or environment. This process helps designers and stakeholders confirm that the prototype reflects the intended brand color before moving to final production.

What surface preparation steps are recommended before applying Pantone PMS 7546 C paint?

To achieve optimal appearance and adhesion with Pantone PMS 7546 C paint, start by cleaning the surface to remove any dirt, oil, or grease. Lightly scuff glossy or slick surfaces if appropriate. Ensure the area is dry and free of contaminants. Before full application, it is recommended to test a small area to confirm uniform coverage and compatibility. Consistent preparation helps prevent uneven appearance, especially on large areas or when using matte finishes.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 7546 C?

Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. Can I use the Pantone PMS 7546 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
