PMS 7538 C is a standardized color from the Pantone PMS System, designed for accurate cross-media reproduction in environments where visual consistency is critical. The color reads as muted, professional, and understated, with an overall neutral–cool gray-green appearance. This shade projects stability, subtleness, and technical clarity and is suitable for environments where a refined, unobtrusive color presence is required.
PMS 7538 C appears as a medium-light shade, with an LRV of 35.32 indicating moderate reflectance.
The color has a cool, slightly olive-green cast.
PMS 7538 C has low chroma, making it a largely desaturated, sophisticated gray.
This color contains subtle greenish-yellow undertones, creating a nuanced earthy impression.
Appearance of PMS 7538 C can vary appreciably depending on surface finish; matte or eggshell finishes enhance its subtle, professional look, while gloss can increase the perception of depth and saturation.
PMS 7538 C works well in spaces and on products where a refined neutrality is required—particularly as a complementary background to stronger accent colors or branded elements. It offers flexibility in various lighting conditions, but its greenish undertone may become more prominent under cool or fluorescent lighting, so sample evaluation is recommended. Compared to other grays, it is less blue and more muted, which helps it avoid looking overly stark or cold.

The surface texture can make Pantone PMS 7538 C look lighter, darker, or more or less saturated depending on how light is reflected and how shadows form. A matte or eggshell finish will tend to mute the color and emphasize its subtle, gray-green character, while a glossy or smooth surface may make PMS 7538 C appear deeper and slightly more saturated. Always evaluate the color on the actual finished substrate to confirm it meets your brand expectation for the project.
Plastics and low-surface-energy materials may require specific primers or surface preparation to ensure proper paint adhesion for Pantone PMS 7538 C. Not all plastics accept paint equally, so it is important to test the color and adhesion process on your exact plastic before full production or installation. Skipping this step may lead to poor adhesion or unacceptable finish results, which can affect brand consistency.
Pantone books serve as reference guides for the target color but use their own specific inks, paper, and finish. The appearance of PMS 7538 C in paint can differ due to factors like surface sheen, material type, and lighting. For best brand consistency, confirm color results by applying a sample of PMS 7538 C paint to the actual substrate under project lighting conditions before making final decisions.
For Pantone PMS 7538 C, apply several light coats rather than one heavy coat. Allow sufficient drying time between coats to prevent runs or uneven finish. This process helps achieve a uniform color and consistent appearance, which is important for maintaining brand standards across displays and branded components.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 7538 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
