PMS 7517 C is part of the Pantone PMS collection, used extensively for brand design, signage, and display specifications. This color presents as a robust, earthy brown-tan with a distinctly warm presence. It conveys practical, grounded, stable, and natural qualities, making it a practical choice where a substantial and organic visual statement is needed.

- PMS 7517 C appears dark, with a relatively low light reflectance value (LRV 9.54). - The color has a strong warm tendency, leaning noticeably towards yellow-orange. - The color exhibits high saturation, delivering a vivid, substantial impression. - PMS 7517 C carries a muted, earthy undertone, contributing to its naturalistic appearance. - This color is less sensitive to minor finish variations but may appear slightly richer in gloss or subdued in matte applications.

PMS 7517 C is suited for branded displays, fixtures, and marketing environments where a stable, natural brown-tan accent is specified. It performs reliably in conditions favoring warm earth tones, providing visual weight and a grounded appearance. Due to its richness and dark value, multiple coats may be required for uniform coverage, especially over lighter substrates. Appearance can shift towards deeper or slightly more yellow-orange tones under different lighting and finish gloss; always view a physical sample in the target context to confirm suitability. It is prudent to compare surrounding elements for contrast, as this tone may visually recede or dominate based on adjacent hues.

Similar colors:
PMS 7518 C – Similar in darkness but cooler and with a grayer, more muted appearance.

PMS 731 C – Darker and deeper, with less of the earthy, tan quality and a more pronounced brown base.

PMS 7519 C – Slightly lighter and more neutral, lacking the saturated, warm undertone of PMS 7517 C.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7517 C

How do different finishes like gloss or matte affect the appearance of Pantone PMS 7517 C?

The appearance of Pantone PMS 7517 C can vary depending on the selected finish. Gloss finishes typically make PMS 7517 C look slightly richer and more saturated, which may enhance its warm, earthy undertone. Matte finishes can mute the color, resulting in a more subdued effect and reducing reflections that could alter perceived brightness. Satin finishes provide a balance between the two. It is always recommended to evaluate a physical sample with the chosen finish in your specific environment to confirm the look before moving forward, especially for brand displays and signage.

What are my options if I need PMS 7517 C paint on a tight deadline?

If you need PMS 7517 C produced quickly, expedited production options are available at checkout for most paint formats. Selecting expedited production can help meet urgent deadlines for branding or marketing projects. For critical timelines or specific event dates, contact MyPerfectColor directly to confirm production time and shipping options for PMS 7517 C before you order.

How does the surface texture affect the look of Pantone PMS 7517 C?

The texture of the surface you apply PMS 7517 C to can significantly impact how the color appears. Smoother surfaces tend to reflect light more evenly, resulting in a uniform and sometimes brighter look. Rough or textured surfaces introduce shadowing and scattered light, which can cause PMS 7517 C to appear darker, less saturated, or even slightly changed in tone. For accurate brand presentation, always review a painted sample on the actual substrate to confirm the visual effect before proceeding with full production.

What best practices help achieve uniform color when applying PMS 7517 C over large areas?

To ensure uniform appearance of PMS 7517 C on large display or signage surfaces, use consistent application techniques and plan for enough coating to complete each area without interruption. Highly saturated, dark colors like PMS 7517 C may require multiple coats to achieve full coverage, especially over lighter backgrounds. Maintain the same finish and application method across adjacent panels to avoid patchy or uneven results. Testing your application process on a sample panel first can help identify any adjustments needed for consistent brand color reproduction.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 7517 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
