PMS 7516 C (Pantone PMS collection) is a deep, saturated brown used extensively in brand and environmental design contexts. The overall impression is robust, grounded, and functional, with a natural warmth and an earthy, professional vibe. This color often communicates substance, reliability, and practicality in physical environments and is selected for its ability to deliver strong visual presence without appearing harsh or overly bright.

PMS 7516 C appears distinctly dark, with a low light reflectance value (LRV 13.84), making it suitable for high-contrast uses or backgrounds.

The color exhibits a strong warm tendency, with evident earthy, brown undertones.

This color presents moderate to high saturation, offering color strength without overt vividness.

The undertone is rooted and organic, reducing risks of unintended red or orange shifts under standard lighting.

PMS 7516 C may display some finish sensitivity, with matte finishes appearing softer and gloss potentially intensifying color depth.

PMS 7516 C performs well in applications where a deep, reliable brown is needed for visual weight or contrast, such as fixture components, retail display backgrounds, or branded architectural elements.

It should be tested in project-specific lighting, as low reflectance can cause the color to appear even deeper under subdued illumination.

Coverage may be variable depending on substrate and application method; surface preparation and uniform priming are recommended for consistent appearance.

Relative to comparable browns, PMS 7516 C delivers more visual depth and warmth without significant color shift.

Similar colors:

  • PMS 7528 C is lighter and more muted, offering a softer, more neutral brown appearance.
  • PMS 469 C is slightly warmer and more red; it appears richer and less neutral compared to PMS 7516 C.
  • PMS 4625 C is even darker and less saturated, lending a near-black impression with minimal warmth.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7516 C

How can I ensure color consistency when reordering PMS 7516 C for multiple projects?

To achieve consistent results with PMS 7516 C on repeat orders, always specify the same product type, sheen, and finish as your original order. Use the same Pantone standard or approved reference sample as your color target. Any change in product base, gloss level, or substrate can lead to visible differences due to how the deep brown color interacts with light and texture. For critical brand projects, consider retaining a control sample from the first run to compare against future batches before full-scale application.

What are the basic surface preparation steps for applying PMS 7516 C paint?

Before applying PMS 7516 C paint, start by cleaning the substrate to remove dust, grease, and residues. Degrease glossy or previously coated surfaces if needed. Lightly scuff glossy or smooth areas to help the paint adhere, taking care not to expose irregular substrate colors that could bleed through this deep brown. Priming with a uniform base color is recommended, especially for high-contrast surfaces. Test a small spot with PMS 7516 C to confirm coverage and appearance before full scale application. Proper prep helps achieve a consistent, brand-true finish on all materials.

How does surface texture affect the appearance of PMS 7516 C?

Surface texture can noticeably affect how PMS 7516 C is perceived. On smoother or glossy finishes, the color may look deeper and richer due to greater light reflectance and intensified saturation. Matte and textured surfaces, on the other hand, can diffuse light and soften the appearance, making the same PMS 7516 C sample appear lighter or less intense. Always test the color on the same texture and finish planned for your project to ensure it meets brand expectations in the final context.

What is the typical lead time for ordering PMS 7516 C paint?

PMS 7516 C paint is made to order to achieve brand-standard color accuracy. Production lead time depends on the specific paint format (such as spray paint, paint pens, or housepaint) and current production volume. Allow several business days for production, plus shipping time. If your project has tight deadlines for display, branding, or installation, plan your order in advance and factor in additional time for sampling or approval if needed.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 7516 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 7516 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 7516 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
