PMS 4625 C is a standard color from the Pantone Matching System (PMS) collection, widely utilized in marketing, display fabrication, and industrial design contexts. Visually, it presents as a nearly black, muted brown with an earthy, stable, and understated vibe that is functional, technical, and visually anchoring.

PMS 4625 C exhibits extremely low light reflectance (LRV 2.99), making it one of the darkest browns in the PMS range. The color shows a clear warm tendency, with significant brown and subtle earthy undertones. PMS 4625 C demonstrates moderate chroma, giving it muted intensity suitable for functional and background roles. This color possesses a neutral to subtly orange-brown undertone, avoiding overt redness or yellowing. Finish sensitivity is moderate to high; glossier finishes may increase perceived richness and depth, while matts can diminish richness and reveal undertones more clearly.

PMS 4625 C is often specified for identity elements where a very dark brown is needed that is less stark or formal than black. This color is commonly referenced in branding literature as a grounding element or accent within retail environments, exhibit components, or wayfinding graphics.

PMS 4625 C is most effective where an understated but strong dark tone is required, especially in brand panels, retail display bases, or exhibit backdrops that need color consistency across media. It should be evaluated in the intended lighting, as color and nuance can shift significantly from warm to cool light; gloss choice will notably impact visual mass and depth. Compared to other very dark colors, PMS 4625 C generally reads warmer and less harsh than traditional jet blacks, yet can appear almost black in dim settings.

This Pantone PMS color is defined by the Pantone Matching System standard. Evaluate the color using a physical Pantone reference and a real paint sample in the intended lighting and finish. Paint appearance varies by finish and lighting.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 4625 C

What is the difference between ordering Pantone PMS 4625 C by name versus by code, and how do I make sure I get the correct color?

Pantone PMS 4625 C is identified by its specific code, which ensures you receive the exact standardized color defined by the Pantone Matching System. Ordering by code 'PMS 4625 C' is the most reliable way to reference the correct target, since Pantone names can sometimes be similar or interpreted differently. Always include the full code with any suffix (such as the 'C' for coated) to avoid ordering errors and to communicate an exact color to vendors and project teams.

What surface preparation steps are needed before applying Pantone PMS 4625 C paint for branding or display applications?

Before applying Pantone PMS 4625 C paint, ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, and debris. Degrease if needed, then lightly scuff glossy or smooth surfaces to promote adhesion. For challenging materials, a test application on a small area can help confirm compatibility and color payoff. Good surface prep helps achieve the intended brand appearance and durable results.

How is Pantone PMS 4625 C used in prototyping and concept models for visual brand alignment?

Pantone PMS 4625 C is often used in prototypes and concept models to test and present brand colors with high visual accuracy. When building prototypes, select the paint format that matches your process needs, such as spray paint or paint pens, and evaluate samples under the intended lighting and finish conditions. This approach helps teams verify brand consistency and anticipate how PMS 4625 C will look across different substrates and media before large production runs.

What should I know about shipping transit times when ordering Pantone PMS 4625 C matched paint?

Transit time for Pantone PMS 4625 C paint depends on your delivery location, shipping method selected at checkout, and carrier schedules. Allow for extra lead time when working to fixed marketing or event deadlines, as custom-matched paints may require production before shipping. Plan your order with your project timeline in mind to avoid delays in installation or project delivery.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 4625 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
