Pantone® PMS 7493 C is part of the Pantone Matching System (PMS), widely used in branding, environmental graphics, and display fabrication. The color is characterized by a subdued, natural, and modern vibe—it often appears calm, understated, and balanced, making it a practical choice for designers seeking a green that communicates environmental consciousness without strong saturation or brightness.

PMS 7493 C appears as a mid-light green with an LRV of 53.21, providing moderate reflectance.

The color shows a cool undertone, leaning toward an organic or muted, slightly grayish green.

PMS 7493 C displays restrained chroma, resulting in a low-saturation, less vivid green.

The color can exhibit subtle shifts under varied lighting conditions, especially between daylight and artificial sources.

PMS 7493 C’s muted appearance tends to minimize finish sensitivity, behaving fairly consistently between matte and semi-gloss applications.

PMS 7493 C is selected when a visually quiet, approachable green is desired, particularly in branded spaces or displays requiring a soft, professional tone. This color performs well in settings with variable or indirect lighting, but its muted nature means adjacent colors or brightly lit environments can make it appear even less saturated. When specifying for paint, always compare both a physical Pantone reference and an actual paint-out in the intended finish and on the target substrate, as material and sheen may influence the final perception.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7493 C

How does the finish or sheen affect the perception of Pantone PMS 7493 C?

Pantone PMS 7493 C is a muted, mid-light green that tends to behave consistently across matte and semi-gloss finishes. Because its chroma is restrained, visual shifts due to finish are less pronounced than with more saturated colors. However, higher-gloss sheens like satin or gloss can make PMS 7493 C appear brighter and slightly more vibrant, while matte finishes result in a softer, more understated look. Always compare a physical Pantone reference and a paint-out in your intended finish on the actual substrate to confirm the final appearance before committing to full-scale work.

When is it appropriate to use a standard Pantone PMS 7493 C match for my project?

Choosing a standard Pantone PMS 7493 C match is suitable for most brand, marketing, and display projects where the Pantone color reference is the primary target. Common examples include signage, exhibit components, prototypes, branded environments, and marketing installations where visual brand consistency is essential. If your goal is to align with established brand guides or produce concept models, ordering PMS 7493 C as a standard match is the correct approach. For critical, high-visibility, or permanent installations requiring approval under specific lighting, consider confirming with a painted sample under actual conditions.

How do lighting and viewing conditions impact the appearance of Pantone PMS 7493 C?

The perceived color of Pantone PMS 7493 C can shift depending on lighting conditions. Under natural daylight, the color appears as intended with its mid-light muted green tone. Artificial lighting, such as cool LEDs or warm fluorescents, may cause the color to look cooler or more subdued. For brand-critical work, always evaluate PMS 7493 C in the actual lighting environment where it will be seen to ensure the finished result aligns with your expectations. This is especially important for displays or branded spaces with non-standard or changing light sources.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 7493 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
