Pantone™ PMS 7491 C

When specifying PMS 7491 C for pop-ups or retail installs, evaluate the durability of your selected paint product, as heavy traffic or physical wear may require a tougher coating. Always review the lighting at your installation site, since PMS 7491 C can appear warmer or cooler depending on the environment. Sampling the color on your actual substrate and viewing under real lighting is highly recommended before committing to large-scale painting, as finish and surroundings affect perceived color accuracy.

Ordering a standard Pantone PMS match for PMS 7491 C is appropriate for marketing displays, temporary brand experiences, signage, exhibit pieces, or prototypes where the Pantone reference is the official brand target. This approach is recommended when you need consistent color representation across surfaces, but do not require substrate-specific approval or long-term, fixed installations. For permanent or high-visibility retail spaces, previewing the color on the actual material under site lighting is advised prior to full production.

Sheen selection can have a noticeable impact on PMS 7491 C. Higher sheen finishes (such as gloss) will make the olive green color appear brighter and the chroma more pronounced, while matte finishes will mute the yellow-green character, making the color seem more subdued. Decide on a sheen based on your viewing distance, lighting, substrate type, and desired visual effect. Sampling both your intended sheen and substrate is recommended to confirm you achieve the intended brand look.

PMS 7491 C is a moderately dark and muted olive green. While it generally covers better than many highly saturated or bright colors, full hide may still require multiple coats, particularly over contrasting substrates or when using lower-solids paint. Properly priming the substrate and testing application on a small area is recommended for brand projects to ensure uniform results. Always plan for more than one coat in high-visibility applications where color consistency is critical.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
