Pantone™ PMS 7489 C

To maximize consistency when reordering PMS 7489 C, always specify the same product type, finish sheen, and application method as your original order. Reference the same Pantone standard or physical approval sample for every project. Even though PMS 7489 C is standardized as a color target, slight appearance shifts can occur between batches or with changes in application process, substrate, or gloss level. Reviewing a sample from each batch under your intended lighting conditions is recommended for brand-critical work.

A primer is often needed when applying PMS 7489 C, especially over bare, porous, or non-uniform surfaces. Using a primer improves adhesion, coverage, and appearance, which is especially important for this vivid, high-chroma color. Primers are recommended for new substrates, unpainted metals, plastics, or where maximum uniformity is critical. If you are unsure, refer to manufacturer guidance for your specific substrate and intended exposure to ensure optimal performance and color accuracy.

PMS 7489 C is intended as a visual standard for brand-facing work, making it an appropriate choice for prototypes, mockups, and concept models that require recognizable brand colors. Choosing a matched paint or spray paint format enables evaluation of color appearance in your actual application context. To assess PMS 7489 C accurately, view painted samples under intended conditions and confirm that the finish and substrate reflect your planned production method.

Ordering a standard PMS 7489 C match is appropriate for branded displays, signage, marketing installations, and prototypes where visual alignment with the Pantone target is needed. This approach is ideal when the Pantone reference is the specified standard and perfect substrate or multi-material matching is not required. For high-visibility, permanent, or multi-material settings, additional sample evaluation may be advised, but for most brand-driven applications a standard match provides the expected visual impact and consistency.

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
