PMS 7471 C is from the Pantone PMS collection, widely used in professional branding, display fabrication, and industrial design settings where consistent, eye-catching color reproduction is critical. This color offers a crisp, energetic, and modern vibe with clear undertones. It stands out as a saturated mid-light cyan-blue, often chosen for its clean finish and contemporary character.

PMS 7471 C displays a notably light appearance, with a reflectance value (LRV) of 60.3. The color has a cool, fresh tendency, aligning with a turquoise-blue family. PMS 7471 C is moderately high in saturation, delivering vibrant visual impact without the intensity of fully chromatic neon hues. The color carries a distinctly bluish-green undertone, making it read as more cyan than pure blue or green. PMS 7471 C can be finish-sensitive, with variations becoming more pronounced in high-gloss or matte finishes due to its saturation and lightness.

PMS 7471 C works well in branded environments requiring a recognizable, modern accent—such as event signage, displays, or fixtures where distinct color-coding and visual clarity are essential. It can be sensitive to lighting conditions: natural daylight enhances its turquoise vibrancy, while warm artificial lighting can mute its crispness or shift its undertone slightly toward green. Compared to deeper or more subdued turquoise colors, PMS 7471 C appears lighter and less muted, accenting bright environments and providing notable contrast against neutral backgrounds. For best results, use a sample under final lighting conditions; be mindful that this color may require more coats for even coverage, particularly when applied over dark substrates.

PMS 3252 C – Noticeably lighter and with a softer, less saturated turquoise effect.

PMS 7466 C – Darker and deeper, providing a more saturated and intense teal-blue compared to the crisper PMS 7471 C.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7471 C

How can lighting conditions affect the appearance of Pantone PMS 7471 C after application?

Pantone PMS 7471 C is sensitive to lighting conditions. This turquoise blue can look crisper and more vibrant in natural daylight, while warm artificial lighting may mute its appearance or shift the color slightly greener. Because the perceived color can vary significantly, it is important to evaluate samples of PMS 7471 C under the actual lighting where the finished project will be used. This helps ensure brand consistency and reduces the risk of unexpected color shifts in marketing, display, or branded environments.

What should I consider when applying Pantone PMS 7471 C to plastic or low energy surfaces?

When using Pantone PMS 7471 C on plastic or other low energy surfaces, adhesion can be a challenge. Plastics differ in composition and may require a specialized primer or surface preparation to ensure proper paint bonding. It is recommended to test PMS 7471 C paint on the actual plastic substrate before full production to confirm performance. For best results, consult with your MyPerfectColor representative about your material and intended application so the right primer and process can be recommended.

Why does Pantone PMS 7471 C sometimes look different in gloss versus matte finishes?

The finish or sheen can noticeably change how Pantone PMS 7471 C appears. A high-gloss finish can make the color look brighter and more saturated, while a matte finish may appear lighter and less intense. Because differences in gloss level affect the way light reflects off the surface, comparing a matte to a gloss sample of PMS 7471 C can make them look like slightly different colors, even if they are matched to the same standard. Always evaluate samples in the intended finish to verify that the visual outcome meets your brand requirements.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 7471 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
