PMS 7701 C is part of the Pantone PMS (Pantone Matching System) collection, utilized where accurate and standardized brand color specification is required. This color presents as a strong, vivid cyan-teal with a distinctly cool, assertive presence. The overall vibe may be described as bold, technical, modern, dynamic, and attention-grabbing—often selected for brand environments where clarity and color fidelity are critical.
PMS 7701 C displays a distinctly dark value (LRV 8.12). The color has a strong cool tendency, positioned between blue and teal. This color exhibits high saturation and chromatic vibrancy. The undertone is pronounced cyan-green with a blue influence, producing a clean, contemporary appearance. PMS 7701 C can show sensitivity to finish; higher gloss finishes may intensify its brightness, while matte finishes may subdue it. Perceived depth can shift under different lighting, with cooler light sources emphasizing its blue character.
PMS 7701 C is most effective when used to create visual impact in branding, displays, and environments that require color consistency across different materials. Accurate substrate preparation and even application are recommended, as saturated colors with low LRV like this may require additional coats for uniform coverage. Lighting should be carefully evaluated, since cooler or directional light can influence the balance of blue and green seen. This color remains visually strong next to other saturated tones but can appear muted or shadowed when surrounded by very dark or black elements.

When specifying Pantone PMS 7701 C in a pop-up or retail setting, evaluate both durability and lighting conditions before full installation. PMS 7701 C is a vivid, saturated color with lower light reflectance (LRV 8.12), making it potentially sensitive to uneven application and lighting. Sample the color on your intended materials and test under your planned lighting, since cooler or directional light can shift its appearance. For highly saturated hues like this, expect multiple coats for uniform coverage and confirm your chosen finish (such as gloss or matte) delivers the desired visual effect. Proper substrate preparation and even paint application are important to achieve brand-consistent results.
Sampling Pantone PMS 7701 C is strongly advised for major brand installations, permanent retail builds, or any high-visibility location when approval workflows are required. Because PMS 7701 C is highly saturated and its appearance can be influenced by substrate and lighting, a sample allows you to confirm color accuracy before committing to full production. Sampling helps ensure that all decision-makers are confident in the visual result, particularly where matching strict brand standards is essential.
Ordering paint matched to Pantone PMS 7701 C means you are specifying a paint color that targets the standardized visual reference for PMS 7701 C. This ensures consistent brand color presentation across projects and materials. It does not specify a particular paint formulation, coating process, or finish. You will need to select formats and finishes based on your specific application and ensure the match is verified if appearance is critical, as some variation may occur depending on substrate and lighting.
Whether you need a primer for Pantone PMS 7701 C depends on the surface, paint type, and your chosen finish. Primer is generally recommended when painting over bare, uneven, or highly absorbent substrates, or when a major color change is needed. It improves adhesion and coverage, which is important for bold colors with low LRV like PMS 7701 C. Always review the primer recommendations for your material and coating type to ensure optimal results and consistent color appearance.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
