PMS 7429 C is a Pantone Matching System color from the Pantone PMS collection. The color is perceived as light, muted, and approachable, with understated and contemporary qualities. Its overall vibe is subtle, gentle, versatile, and modern, making it suitable for brand-centric environments where a reserved yet distinctive visual presence is required.

PMS 7429 C presents as a light shade, with an LRV of 60.3. The color has a cool, muted tendency, sitting near the red end of the spectrum with a slight blue influence. PMS 7429 C exhibits low to moderate chroma, giving it a subdued appearance rather than a vivid one. The undertone is rose with subtle mauve or lavender notes, contributing to its soft, neutralized feel. The appearance of PMS 7429 C can shift depending on finish, with matte finishes emphasizing its muted quality, while glossier finishes may accentuate underlying hues.

PMS 7429 C is frequently specified for brand-oriented projects seeking a gentle, contemporary rose presence that avoids brashness. It functions well in applications where a subtle visual distinction is needed without overwhelming surrounding elements. In environments with varied lighting, PMS 7429 C may read warmer or cooler; assess samples in situ, particularly across finish types. Compared to similar muted rose tones, it is a touch cooler and less saturated, helping it blend in more versatile palettes without reading overly vibrant.

Similar colors:
PMS 7428 C, which is darker and has a more saturated, deeper mauve appearance.

PMS 7430 C, which is lighter and reads warmer and slightly more peach-toned.

PMS 7604 C, which is significantly lighter and has a more neutral, pink-tan quality.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7429 C

How does the finish or sheen affect the appearance of Pantone PMS 7429 C in branding applications?

The finish you select for Pantone PMS 7429 C can noticeably change its perceived color. A matte finish will emphasize the muted, soft qualities of PMS 7429 C, often making it look more subdued. A gloss or satin finish can brighten the color and make underlying rose or mauve tones more apparent, giving it a slightly richer look. For brand consistency, always confirm finish requirements before ordering and, when possible, assess samples in the intended finish and environment to ensure the desired visual impact.

What steps should I take to achieve a uniform PMS 7429 C appearance when painting large surfaces?

To maintain a consistent look with PMS 7429 C across large areas, use the same batch and product type for all coats. Apply the paint in controlled, even passes and keep a wet edge to avoid lap marks. Plan the job so each section blends seamlessly into the next. For saturated or light colors like PMS 7429 C, additional coats may be needed for solid coverage. Always review the surface in the lighting where it will be seen to spot any unevenness before the paint cures.

Why is PMS 7429 C often specified for signs, displays, and exhibit elements?

PMS 7429 C is a Pantone Matching System reference, making it ideal for projects requiring consistent brand color across different vendors, materials, or fabrication processes. In signs, displays, and exhibits, specifying PMS 7429 C helps ensure the intended brand color is achieved, promoting visual consistency. If exact appearance is critical, it is best to confirm the color using samples applied to the actual substrate and finish to account for how PMS 7429 C might look in the specific environment.

What should I consider before applying a PMS 7429 C match to metal or powder-coated parts?

Before painting metal or powder-coated parts with a PMS 7429 C match, ensure all surfaces are thoroughly cleaned and any gloss or previous coatings are scuffed to promote adhesion. Existing finishes can influence the color and sheen of the final result. Since the appearance of PMS 7429 C may vary based on substrate and finish, it is a good idea to test a sample first. This helps confirm that the achieved look meets brand expectations under actual lighting and viewing angles.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 7429 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
