PMS 7414 C is part of the Pantone PMS (Pantone Matching System) collection and is recognized for its subdued, natural orange-brown appearance. The color presents an understated, warm, and stable vibe, with an organic and muted quality that conveys approachability and earthiness. It is typically viewed as grounded and pragmatic, fitting well into environments that require an inviting yet unobtrusive presence.

PMS 7414 C has a medium-dark appearance, with a relatively low light reflectance value (LRV 20.14), contributing to its noticeable depth. The color displays a warm tendency, typical of hues that contain prominent orange and brown elements. This color is moderately saturated, giving it enough strength to be clearly perceived without overwhelming vibrance. PMS 7414 C shows subtle brown undertones, resulting in a muted and earthy visual impression. The color may display noticeable sensitivity to finish; gloss levels will affect apparent warmth and depth.

PMS 7414 C works well in settings where a muted yet distinctive brand color is needed, such as environmental branding, retail displays, and corporate accents aiming to evoke stability and approachability. When specifying this color, stakeholders should review physical paint samples under intended lighting and finish as environmental variables can shift its warmth and perceived depth. Coverage may require attention due to its moderate saturation, especially on contrasting substrates; priming or additional coats may be needed for uniformity. Compared to more chromatic or lighter oranges, PMS 7414 C will appear more grounded and less intense, offering versatility for corporate and institutional applications.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7414 C

Will PMS 7414 C paint appear the same as the PMS 7414 C color in my Pantone book?

The PMS 7414 C color in a Pantone book serves as a visual reference standard created with ink on coated paper. When PMS 7414 C is produced as paint, the appearance may vary due to factors such as finish sheen, paint formulation, and substrate material. For best results, review a PMS 7414 C paint sample on the actual material and under the lighting conditions intended for your project. This helps ensure accurate visual alignment with your Pantone book reference.

When should I specify a standard PMS 7414 C match for my project?

Ordering a standard PMS 7414 C match is appropriate for brand-facing displays, signage, marketing exhibits, and prototypes where Pantone PMS 7414 C is the reference color required. This approach is ideal when you need consistent, visible brand color across temporary or semi-permanent applications where the Pantone code is the official color target.

Why might PMS 7414 C look different on various materials?

PMS 7414 C can appear differently on plastics, metals, wood, or painted surfaces because substrate properties like absorption, texture, and gloss affect the final color. For example, a matte wood surface may make PMS 7414 C look more muted than a glossy metal panel. Always evaluate PMS 7414 C using a paint sample on the actual material and finish to check for visual alignment before full production.

Should I order a sample of PMS 7414 C before full production?

Sampling PMS 7414 C is strongly recommended for large, high-visibility branding projects, permanent installations, or when color appearance must be approved under specific lighting and on particular substrates. A sample allows you to confirm that PMS 7414 C delivers the intended appearance and helps manage expectations for final results, reducing the risk of costly errors or brand misalignment.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 7414 C?

Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. Can I use the Pantone PMS 7414 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
