PMS 7406 C, from the Pantone PMS collection, is a vivid, medium-bright yellow with strong visual impact. The color presents as energetic, attention-getting, and modern, making it suitable for marketing and environments where visibility and clarity are priorities. Its vibe is bold, clean, and technical, with a distinctly energetic presence.

PMS 7406 C appears moderately light, with a numeric LRV of 53.21.

The color has a warm tendency, with a strong yellow base.

PMS 7406 C exhibits high saturation, presenting as a vivid and intense hue.

The undertone is clean yellow, without noticeable orange or green influence.

This color is moderately sensitive to finish, with gloss or matte treatments significantly affecting perceived brightness and vibrancy, especially under varied lighting conditions.

PMS 7406 C works well in environments where high visual energy, brand consistency, and immediate recognition are critical. Its pronounced brightness can shift with different lighting conditions, and gloss finishes will further amplify its impact, while matte finishes may slightly mute its intensity. When applying this color, ensure that surfaces are primed to a uniform white or neutral base to achieve full coverage and vibrancy, as high-chroma yellows may require additional coats for even appearance. Always evaluate the color in the intended final lighting and finish to confirm visual alignment with brand requirements.

Similar colors:

  • PMS 123 C offers a lighter and slightly softer yellow, with less chromatic intensity.
  • PMS 7408 C is similar in hue but presents as warmer and somewhat deeper, closer to a golden yellow.
  • PMS 109 C is more neutral and less saturated, with a paler appearance compared to PMS 7406 C.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 7406 C

What are the best practices for comparing Pantone PMS 7406 C color samples during the approval process?

To assess Pantone PMS 7406 C accurately for brand consistency, always compare samples under consistent lighting, preferably matching the intended final environment. Use the same substrate and finish for all comparison samples, as glossy or matte treatments can alter how PMS 7406 C appears. Allow all coatings to fully dry and cure before making a judgment, since high-chroma yellows like PMS 7406 C may shift in appearance as they settle. Evaluating these factors helps ensure the color meets your standard before approval.

What product formats are available for ordering Pantone PMS 7406 C, and how should I choose the right one for my project?

Pantone PMS 7406 C can be ordered as custom spray paint, paint pens, brush-in-cap bottles, and other specialty paint formats such as epoxy and urethane coatings. To select the best option, consider your application: spray paint is practical for displays and signage, pens and brush-in-cap bottles suit small components or models, while epoxy or urethane is chosen for durability. Always specify the desired finish and substrate to optimize visual consistency with the PMS 7406 C target.

How can Pantone PMS 7406 C be used in prototypes or concept models to maintain visual brand alignment?

Pantone PMS 7406 C is suitable for prototypes and concept models where brand color accuracy and high visual impact are priorities. Choose a paint format appropriate for your prototype material, such as spray paint for even coverage or paint pens for small-scale detail. Test the color on your actual model material and allow the paint to dry fully before review, as finish and substrate can influence appearance. This workflow helps ensure your prototype aligns visually with Pantone PMS 7406 C brand standards.

Where can I find the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for paint in Pantone PMS 7406 C?

The SDS for Pantone PMS 7406 C paint depends on the specific product or paint type you select, not the color code itself. After choosing your desired format, such as spray paint or epoxy, locate the SDS for that product in the SDS library provided on the product or manufacturer website. This ensures you have the relevant safety and application details for the exact material you plan to use.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 7406 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
