PMS Hexachrome Cyan is a Pantone PMS color recognized for its intense, clean, and technical blue-green appearance. The Pantone PMS system is a standardized reference used across design, display fabrication, and brand identity work. This color conveys a vivid, modern, energetic, and assertive vibe, suitable for high-impact marketing and prototype contexts.

PMS Hexachrome Cyan presents as a distinctly dark medium cyan (LRV 19.27). The color shows a cool temperature with a blue-green leaning hue. PMS Hexachrome Cyan is highly saturated, promoting vibrancy and visual energy. The undertone is strong blue with a noticeable green influence, minimizing warmth. The color’s appearance is sensitive to finish, with gloss finishes intensifying its vibrancy and matte finishes offering a more restrained and subdued effect.

PMS Hexachrome Cyan is operationally successful in environments that require striking color presence, especially in applications where consistent reproduction of blue-green hues is essential for brand recognition. Care should be taken with lighting selection, as both artificial and natural light can influence perceived intensity and undertone. For best results, confirm color in the actual display context and evaluate across possible gloss levels to ensure it aligns with brand and design intent. Compared to other strong cyans, PMS Hexachrome Cyan generally reads as slightly darker and more saturated, which can add depth but may require additional coats for uniform coverage on lighter substrates.

Similar colors:
PMS 306 C is lighter and slightly warmer, giving a more vibrant, less deep effect.

PMS Process Cyan C is cooler and more neutral, lacking the green presence of PMS Hexachrome Cyan.

PMS 298 C is lighter, with less saturation, offering a softer appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS Hexachrome Cyan

Are there special brand or application contexts where Pantone PMS Hexachrome Cyan is commonly specified?

Pantone PMS Hexachrome Cyan is selected in marketing, branding, and display fabrication projects that require a highly vivid blue-green. It is often called out in brand identity programs, retail activations, and prototype environments where color consistency is important for visual recognition. When strict brand alignment is needed, this Pantone PMS code provides an industry-standard reference for specifying the color across different vendors and manufacturing processes.

How much coverage should I expect from a spray can of PMS Hexachrome Cyan paint?

For PMS Hexachrome Cyan, one 11 ounce spray can typically covers about 20 to 25 square feet per coat on a smooth, non-porous surface. Coverage will decrease on textured or absorbent substrates, and highly saturated colors like this one may require extra coats to achieve full vibrancy and hide, especially over lighter backgrounds. For best results, estimate the total area to be painted, plan for at least two coats, and consider ordering an extra can to account for touch-ups and test sprays.

Why is PMS Hexachrome Cyan used in sign, display, and exhibit fabrication?

PMS Hexachrome Cyan is specified in sign, display, and exhibit fabrication when it is critical to match brand color standards precisely. Using the Pantone PMS reference ensures that the blue-green hue is consistent across elements and materials, even when panels or components are produced in different locations. Sampling the color on your actual substrate and under display lighting is recommended, as finish and lighting can affect the perceived color. This approach helps achieve reliable brand consistency in visible, high-impact environments.

What product formats are available if I need a Pantone PMS Hexachrome Cyan paint match?

PMS Hexachrome Cyan can be ordered as custom spray paint, paint pens, brush-in-cap bottles, and other professional coatings designed for brand and display applications. Choose the format based on your project needs. Spray paint is common for large display surfaces and signage. Paint pens and brush-in-cap bottles suit smaller elements or detailed work. Always review your substrate and environmental requirements before selecting a product format to ensure brand-color accuracy and desired finish.

Can I use the Pantone PMS Hexachrome Cyan for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
