PMS 9224 C is a Pantone PMS color specified for consistent color communication across vendors and materials. It presents a pale, airy yellow-green impression that feels clean, soft, and understated, supporting designs that need brightness without strong visual weight.

The color appears very light, with an LRV of 82.97, and reads warm due to its yellow bias. Its low saturation keeps the tone muted, while a soft yellow-green undertone prevents it from feeling stark or cool.

PMS 9224 C works well where a light, brand-aligned green tone is needed without drawing focus from primary elements. Because of its lightness, surface preparation and uniform priming can help avoid patchiness or show-through, especially over darker substrates. Changes in lighting and sheen can noticeably affect how warm or cool the color appears.

Similar colors:

PMS 9222 C: slightly darker and more yellow, with a bit more visual presence.
PMS 9223 C: marginally deeper and greener, with increased color clarity.
Pantone 580 C: darker and more neutral, with reduced brightness.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 9224 C

What should I know about matching Pantone PMS 9224 C accurately in paint applications?

Matching Pantone PMS 9224 C in paint can be challenging, particularly because bright and saturated Pantone colors may behave differently across materials or under various lighting conditions. MyPerfectColor specializes in reproducing Pantone colors like PMS 9224 C for brand and marketing uses, but it is important to understand that slight variations may occur depending on substrate, finish, and lighting. For most visual branding display, a standard MyPerfectColor Pantone match will meet brand consistency needs, but always assess risks if absolute visual alignment is critical.

How can I ensure consistent coverage of PMS 9224 C when painting large display areas?

To achieve uniform appearance of PMS 9224 C over large areas, plan your application to avoid patchy or uneven coverage. Use consistent technique for every coat, maintain a wet edge, and allow each coat to dry thoroughly before applying the next. Bright and vivid colors like PMS 9224 C may have lower hide, so additional coats may be necessary for full opacity and even color. Always review the results in your intended lighting before considering the job complete.

Why is it important to confirm the PMS 9224 C code and suffix before ordering paint?

Pantone codes such as PMS 9224 C include suffixes and series that identify a specific color formulation or standard. To ensure you receive the correct match, always confirm the full Pantone reference from your brand guidelines or documentation. Ordering the wrong code or omitting a suffix may result in a different color, which can affect brand consistency for your display or marketing application.

What is the best way to use a sample of Pantone PMS 9224 C for brand approval workflows?

Before committing to a large production run of PMS 9224 C, order a small sample in the intended product format and substrate. Review the sample under the installation lighting conditions to confirm the appearance meets brand expectations. This helps ensure alignment with approval standards and avoids costly errors or rework for branded displays or marketing environments.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 9224 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
