PMS 580 C is part of the Pantone PMS (Pantone Matching System) collection. It presents as a light, yellow-leaning green with muted chroma, producing a gentle, clean, and technical effect. The color projects a subdued, understated, and professional vibe with a calm appearance suitable for backgrounds or supporting brand elements where a softer green is required.

PMS 580 C appears light in value (LRV 67.99). The color shows a cool to slightly warm tendency, skewing toward yellow-green rather than blue-green. PMS 580 C is low in saturation, producing a subdued rather than vivid effect. The undertone is distinctly muted yellow-green. PMS 580 C demonstrates moderate finish sensitivity; gloss and matte finishes can shift perceived vibrancy.

PMS 580 C performs well as a background or secondary brand color when a subtle green is needed without overwhelming the composition. For specification in paint, carefully evaluate lighting—natural daylight will accentuate its green cast, while warm artificial lighting may increase yellowish tones. Gloss level can impact apparent richness, and surface uniformity is important to maintain consistency, especially in large installations. Compared to stronger greens, PMS 580 C minimizes visual dominance and is less likely to create color fatigue in high-visibility brand settings.

Similar colors:

PMS 579 C – Lighter and more muted, trending toward an off-white with a greenish undertone.

PMS 5797 C – Darker and less yellow, with a more olive or moss character.

PMS 621 C – Cooler and more neutral, reducing the distinct yellow-green influence.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 580 C

How can lighting affect the appearance of Pantone PMS 580 C paint in my brand environment?

The look of Pantone PMS 580 C can change noticeably under different lighting conditions. Natural daylight brings out the green cast, while warm interior lighting can make PMS 580 C appear more yellow. To ensure the color is suitable for your application, always evaluate PMS 580 C under the exact lighting where your final installation will be seen. This helps avoid surprises and maintains brand consistency across all environments.

What steps help keep PMS 580 C looking uniform when painting large brand displays?

For uniform PMS 580 C coverage on large areas, follow a consistent application method, such as spraying or rolling in even, overlapping passes. Plan your work so each coat is applied in a single session whenever possible. Use the same batch of mixed paint to reduce slight color shifts. Make sure the surface is properly prepared and primed, and apply the number of coats required for full coverage to help prevent patchy or uneven color.

Why is it important to confirm the exact code when ordering Pantone PMS 580 C paint?

Pantone PMS 580 C uses a specific code that identifies the color target for brand consistency. Pantone codes can have suffixes, such as 'C' for coated or 'U' for uncoated, which refer to how the color appears on different materials or finishes. Always check your brand guidelines and specify the correct suffix to make sure the final color matches your intended standard before ordering paint or coatings in PMS 580 C.

How much surface area does one spray can of PMS 580 C typically cover, and how do I estimate how many cans my project needs?

One spray can of PMS 580 C usually covers around 20 to 25 square feet per coat on a smooth, nonporous surface. The actual coverage depends on the surface texture, color being painted over, and application method. To estimate cans needed, calculate your total square footage and consider the number of coats recommended for full coverage with PMS 580 C. It is always wise to include extra material for test sprays and edges to help ensure consistent results.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 580 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 580 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. Can I use the Pantone PMS 580 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How do I convert PMS 580 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 580 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
