Matching existing finishes for touch-up requires details beyond the Pantone reference, such as base material, application process, and surface age. Using PMS 9100 C alone as a touch-up guide can result in visible differences in gloss or color under different lighting. For best results, color matches for existing finishes should be based on the actual product or coating, not solely on a Pantone code.

Sampling Pantone PMS 9100 C is recommended when working on high-visibility brand projects, large installations, or any setting where lighting, substrate, or finish may impact the final appearance. Sampling helps confirm the color meets brand expectations and appears as intended across project conditions. This approach reduces the risk of costly rework due to color or sheen differences.

It is important to verify the full Pantone code, including any suffix or series for PMS 9100 C, before placing an order. Minor differences in the code or suffix (such as C, U, or other series) can indicate differences in intended application or appearance. Check your brand standards or documentation to ensure you order the correct reference for your project needs.

For a consistent result with Pantone PMS 9100 C spray paint, apply multiple light coats rather than one heavy coat. Allow appropriate drying or flash time between coats as stated on the product instructions. This approach helps achieve even coverage and reduces color variation or drips, especially important for vivid and lighter shades like PMS 9100 C.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
