PMS 8783 C is a Pantone PMS metallic color with a dark, cool-toned violet-blue appearance. It conveys a controlled, dramatic, and technical vibe with a reflective character that reads more reserved than bright but distinctly chromatic rather than neutral.
The color appears very dark, with an LRV of 4.42. It reads cool overall, leaning toward a blue-violet direction, and maintains moderate-to-high saturation despite its low lightness.
A subtle violet undertone is visible beneath the metallic surface. Its metallic nature makes it sensitive to lighting angle and surface texture, which can influence perceived depth and hue.
PMS 8783 C works well for brand-facing components where a dark metallic accent is intended to feel deliberate and controlled rather than flashy. Because of its low lightness and metallic finish, careful surface preparation and even application can help avoid patchiness or uneven reflectance.
Lighting conditions, sheen, and viewing angle can noticeably affect how blue or violet the color appears, so evaluation on the actual substrate is recommended before full production.
Similar colors:
Pantone 2587 C: lighter and more open, without the metallic reflectance.
Pantone 2695 C: darker and more muted, with a more subdued purple character.
Pantone 526 C: cooler and cleaner, with less visual depth and no metallic effect.

When using Pantone PMS 8783 C in pop-up or retail environments, it is important to consider durability needs, lighting conditions, and the substrate where the paint will be applied. Metallic Pantone colors like PMS 8783 C can appear different depending on application method and environment, so evaluate samples under installed lighting and on the actual materials before committing to large installations. This helps ensure that the final look aligns with branding standards and performs well over time.
Pantone PMS 8783 C matched paint is custom made to order. Typical lead times depend on the paint type and current production volume. Most orders are produced within a business week, but complex or high-volume orders may take longer. Place orders with adequate lead time, especially when project schedules are tight or when sampling is required.
Pantone PMS 8783 C may appear different across materials because factors like absorption, texture, and reflectivity vary between substrates. Metallic formulas are especially sensitive to substrate preparation and sheen. Always test PMS 8783 C on the actual material you plan to use, under the lighting conditions found in the finished environment, to ensure visual consistency and accurate brand presentation.
Paint matched to Pantone PMS 8783 C is custom made to order, so returns and revisions are not typically possible once production starts. Carefully select product type and finish for your application, and strongly consider ordering a sample first, especially for large or critical projects. This approach minimizes risk and supports correct decision-making before full production.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
