PMS 8500 C is part of the Pantone PMS collection and is categorized as a metallic color. Its overall vibe is technical, contemporary, assertive, attention-grabbing, and precise. This shade delivers a distinctive blue-green appearance with a low to moderate reflectivity that is especially effective in contexts where metallic impact and differentiation from standard flat hues are desired.
PMS 8500 C presents as distinctly dark, with an LRV of 20.14 indicating limited light reflectance and a strong presence on most surfaces. The color leans cool, with a visible blue-green hue that resists warming under neutral lighting. The saturation is moderate, with enough chroma to be vibrant but not approaching neon or fluorescent levels. The undertone skews toward blue-green, avoiding significant grays or yellowish shifts. Metallic finish sensitivity is pronounced; the metallic effect will vary based on application method, lighting, and substrate.
PMS 8500 C is often selected for use in brand displays, retail fixtures, and signage where a cool metallic accent is needed to reinforce a high-tech or modern brand identity. The color is specified for marketing environments prioritizing visual differentiation using metallic effects.
PMS 8500 C works well for branded elements, display parts, and environments where a distinct metallic blue-green is desired. The color's low reflectance and metallic character can shift depending on lighting and finish, so evaluate samples under the intended conditions. Application on prepared, smooth substrates yields the most consistent metallic effect. Compared to non-metallic or lighter metallic blues and greens, PMS 8500 C reads as deeper and more technical, giving a more pronounced accent in environmental or branded contexts.

The durability of PMS 8500 C spray paint depends on several factors. Surface preparation is essential for good adhesion and long-term performance, and a suitable primer is typically recommended for non-porous or metallic substrates. For best results in high-traffic or exposed environments, consider adding a compatible clear topcoat to protect the metallic effect and maintain color appearance. The environment and handling of your branded element (indoors vs outdoors, amount of interaction) will determine how much protection is needed. Always select the paint and topcoat system that aligns with your project's durability requirements.
Proper surface preparation is critical for a successful PMS 8500 C finish. Start by thoroughly cleaning the surface to remove dust, grease, and any contaminants. For most materials, degrease and lightly scuff smooth surfaces to improve adhesion, but avoid using harsh abrasives that could alter the substrate texture. It is recommended to perform a test application on a small, inconspicuous area to confirm adhesion and appearance before full-scale work. Let the surface dry completely before painting for the best results.
PMS 8500 C is a standardized Pantone color code used to communicate a specific color target, but it does not directly convert to colors in other paint brand collections. Most paint brands have unique palettes, and cross-referencing is rarely exact, especially for metallic or saturated Pantone hues like PMS 8500 C. If your project requires alignment with the PMS 8500 C color, it is best to use a paint system matched specifically to that Pantone reference instead of substituting from another brand's standard offerings.
The decision between matte and gloss for PMS 8500 C depends on how you want the metallic effect and brand color to present in your environment. Gloss finishes increase saturation and visual punch but can create glare under bright lighting, which may interfere with viewing at certain angles. Matte finishes minimize glare and help maintain a consistent look across viewing conditions but can reduce the strength of the metallic effect. Consider the viewing distance, lighting, and the intended brand impact when making your decision. Test samples in the actual lighting whenever possible for confidence before full production.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 8500 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
