PMS 8141 C is part of the Pantone PMS collection and functions as a distinctive metallic color. Its appearance conveys vibrancy, modernity, and technical sophistication with a strong, saturated magenta-purple character. The finish is designed to deliver high visual impact and a dimensional metallic sheen, making it suited to applications where standout color and reflectivity are critical.
PMS 8141 C appears notably dark for a magenta, with a measured LRV of 16.79 indicating moderate light reflectance. The color presents a cool undertone, guided by a magenta hue with blue leanings. PMS 8141 C is strongly saturated, producing an intense, vivid effect typical of specialty metallic finishes. This color’s undertone is distinctly magenta with pronounced coolness rather than warmth. The metallic finish affects perceived depth, shifting slightly with light direction and source; finish consistency is critical to maintain color uniformity across installations.
PMS 8141 C is often specified for retail fixtures and branded display materials that require strong visual presence with a metallic effect. The color is used in environmental graphic elements where metallic, saturated magenta is a core element of the visual brand language.
PMS 8141 C works well in contexts where a bold, metallic magenta is needed to create visual separation and brand recognition, especially in retail, event, or display environments. For accurate specification, evaluate finish and application method, as metallic coatings are more sensitive to application technique, surface smoothness, and lighting than solid colors. Consistency of metallic particle distribution is required for visual uniformity. The color can shift in appearance under different lighting conditions or if applied on textured or highly absorbent substrates.
This Pantone PMS color is defined by the Pantone Matching System standard. Evaluate the color using a physical Pantone reference and a real paint sample in the intended lighting and finish. Paint appearance varies by finish and lighting.
Similar colors:
PMS 813 C – Lighter and with higher reflectivity; presents a pinker and less saturated look.
PMS 814 C – Slightly less intense, appearing with reduced chroma and a hint more red, giving a softer metallic magenta.
PMS 233 C – Non-metallic, but comparable in hue; appears flatter and less dynamic due to the lack of metallic effect.

The way PMS 8141 C appears can change noticeably depending on the sheen or finish you select. Even when the formula targets the same Pantone color, a matte version of PMS 8141 C will appear less bright and less saturated than a gloss or metallic finish. Gloss and metallic finishes enhance brightness and reflectivity, making the color look more vivid. For metallic colors like PMS 8141 C, changes in gloss can cause the color to appear almost like a different shade in certain lights. Always compare samples in the intended finish and lighting to make an informed decision for brand-critical applications.
One standard spray can of PMS 8141 C generally covers about 20 to 25 square feet per coat on smooth, primed surfaces. Actual coverage can vary depending on surface texture, color intensity, and number of coats needed for full, even coverage. Highly saturated metallic shades like PMS 8141 C may require additional coats to achieve uniform color and proper metallic effect. Always plan for extra material, especially for brand applications where full opacity and consistent appearance are important.
PMS 8141 C is part of the Pantone Matching System, which provides a defined color standard for brand experiences. Specifying PMS 8141 C in marketing, retail, or display environments helps ensure that visual brand elements appear consistent across different installations and materials. Because brand impact depends on recognizable, repeatable color, using the correct Pantone reference like PMS 8141 C supports clear and consistent brand identity wherever the color is used.
Sampling PMS 8141 C is recommended for large or high-visibility brand installations, or whenever lighting and surface type could affect how the color and metallic effect appear. Because PMS 8141 C is a saturated, metallic color, application method, substrate smoothness, and environmental lighting can all shift its appearance. Reviewing a sample on the actual material and in the planned lighting helps avoid surprises and ensures alignment with brand standards before committing to full production quantities.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
