PMS 8045 C is a standardized metallic color specified in the Pantone PMS system. The color is perceived as a subdued, dark metallic gold with a bronze undertone. Its overall vibe is muted, utilitarian, industrial, and understated, with a technical richness well suited for environments requiring visual depth without the high reflectivity or saturation of traditional golds.

PMS 8045 C has a low to moderate lightness (LRV: 16.79), reading as a deep color with good coverage on most substrates. The color shows a warm undertone, characteristic of gold and brass metallics. It is moderately saturated, but its metallic finish tempers intensity, delivering a more muted effect than many non-metallic warm tones. The undertone is earthy and slightly bronze, with less yellow brilliance than classic gold metallics. The metallic finish is integral to its appearance; different sheens or application methods will noticeably impact both brightness and perceived undertone.

PMS 8045 C is often used in branding and display systems where a dark, metallic gold or antique brass look is required. The color is specified for fixtures, signage, retail displays, and environments where a muted metallic accent supports the brand palette without overt shine.

PMS 8045 C works well when a project requires a metallic color that conveys warmth and richness without drawing attention through high reflectivity or brightness. When specifying or applying this color, it is important to sample the finish and sheen, as these factors strongly affect the final appearance. Metallic pigments may show lap lines or surface texture, so careful surface prep and application technique are necessary. Compared to lighter or more yellow metallics, this color will appear more subdued in both natural and artificial lighting.

PMS 8621 C: A deeper, more coppery metallic with stronger red undertones.

PMS 8383 C: A darker, cooler metallic gold that appears more neutral and less warm than PMS 8045 C.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 8045 C

How should I specify PMS 8045 C for prototypes or concept models if visual brand alignment is required?

When specifying PMS 8045 C for prototypes or concept models, use the full Pantone PMS code to communicate the color target. Select a paint format, such as spray paint, that supports metallics and closely mimics the intended sheen. Always sample both finish and application method before committing to production, as metallic colors like PMS 8045 C can shift appearance depending on substrate and application technique. Confirm visual alignment by evaluating samples in the intended lighting and with your actual materials before finalizing any prototype build.

Where can I find the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for a paint product made in PMS 8045 C?

The Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for a PMS 8045 C paint is linked to the specific paint product type and not the color code. Look for the SDS on the product detail page for your selected paint format, such as spray paint or urethane, as safety details depend on the base chemistry and not the color itself. If you need the SDS in advance, check the MyPerfectColor SDS library or request the document by referencing your chosen paint product type.

Can PMS 8045 C be directly matched to colors from other paint brands or collections?

PMS 8045 C is a standardized Pantone code, but most paint brands have their own unique palettes. There is rarely an exact match in non-Pantone paint collections, especially for metallics like PMS 8045 C. If your specification calls for PMS 8045 C, use a product mixed to the Pantone standard to achieve reliable visual alignment and avoid unpredictable cross-references.

What steps help maintain a uniform finish for PMS 8045 C when painting large areas?

To achieve a uniform finish with PMS 8045 C on large surfaces, use consistent application methods throughout the project. Metallics can emphasize lap lines and surface texture, so maintain a wet edge and apply each coat in the same direction. Plan for multiple light coats rather than one heavy coat to minimize patchiness. Test application technique on a sample panel before starting your full project, and review finish uniformity in the lighting where the final result will be seen.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 8045 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 8045 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. Can I use the Pantone PMS 8045 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How do I convert PMS 8045 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 8045 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
