PMS 875 C (Pantone Matching System) is a metallic color within the Pantone PMS collection. It is frequently chosen for its warm, coppery metallic effect that communicates strength and sophistication. The color’s vibe is technical, authoritative, industrial, contemporary, and substantial.

PMS 875 C appears as a medium-dark metallic bronze with moderate depth. The color tends toward warm, golden-brown tones. It exhibits moderate chroma, providing a strong but not highly saturated metallic effect. PMS 875 C carries an obvious bronze undertone with a metallic sheen. The metallic effect makes it highly sensitive to finish and lighting conditions; differences in gloss and application method will noticeably alter its appearance.

PMS 875 C is often specified for print and packaging elements where a metallic bronze is needed to signify quality and durability. This color is frequently used in product labeling, luxury retail displays, and corporate identity programs seeking a metallic accent. It is sometimes applied in environmental graphics and wayfinding systems that call for a visible, industrial metallic hue.

PMS 875 C works well in contexts where metallic impact is desirable, such as signage, trim, display components, and branded environments. Users should carefully evaluate application methods and surface preparation, as metallic finishes are sensitive to substrate texture and can appear uneven if not applied correctly. In comparison with other metallic shades, PMS 875 C is warmer and appears richer under both direct and ambient lighting but may lose some depth on highly matte finishes.

Similar colors:
PMS 876 C – Slightly darker and deeper, presenting a more copper-influenced appearance.

PMS 874 C – Lighter and a bit more golden, with a more subtle metallic effect.

PMS 8621 C – More neutral and less saturated, offering a softer metallic bronze.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 875 C

What should I consider when using PMS 875 C paint for pop-ups or retail environments to ensure durability and brand consistency?

When using PMS 875 C in pop-ups or retail settings, it is important to sample the color and finish on the actual substrates and under the final installation lighting. PMS 875 C is a metallic shade, so variations in gloss, texture, and application method can noticeably affect the appearance and perceived richness. Metallic finishes are especially sensitive to uneven surfaces and application technique, which may cause streaking or inconsistent sheen. Testing a sample on your actual material before full production helps ensure your result aligns with brand expectations and environmental demands.

How much area does a typical spray can of PMS 875 C cover, and how do I estimate the quantity needed for my project?

One spray can of PMS 875 C typically covers about 20 to 25 square feet per coat on a smooth, primed surface. Coverage will vary depending on surface texture, color contrast with the substrate, and the number of coats required for full coverage. Metallic paints like PMS 875 C may require 2 or more coats to achieve a uniform finish and optimal metallic effect, especially over non-uniform or dark surfaces. To estimate your needs, measure your total project area and plan for at least 2 coats. Testing on a sample area is recommended to confirm coverage before ordering large quantities.

How can lighting conditions affect my perception of PMS 875 C when used in a brand environment?

PMS 875 C is sensitive to lighting changes due to its metallic content and warm bronze tone. Different light sources, such as fluorescent, LED, or natural daylight, can shift the perceived color and metallic effect. Inconsistent or indirect lighting may reduce the warmth and depth of PMS 875 C, while direct lighting can enhance its metallic qualities. For critical brand displays, always evaluate PMS 875 C painted samples under the lighting conditions where the installation will be viewed to ensure the desired visual impact.

What are the lead time and expedited production options for ordering PMS 875 C paint if my project is on a deadline?

If you need PMS 875 C by a specific deadline, expedited production options are available during checkout. Production and shipping times may vary based on order volume and format. Can I use the Pantone PMS 875 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
