PMS 811 C is a Pantone PMS system color. It is known for its extremely vivid, high-impact orange appearance that exhibits fluorescent properties. The color conveys an energetic, vibrant, and highly saturated vibe, with a strong visual presence that is frequently described as bold, attention-seeking, and unmistakable in marketing and event applications.

PMS 811 C appears moderately bright. The color shows a clear warm tendency. PMS 811 C is highly saturated, presenting with vivid chroma. The undertone is a distinctly fluorescent orange with no visible muting. This color is highly sensitive to lighting and finish, as fluorescent pigments can shift significantly in both color intensity and perceived brightness. Perceptual appearance may vary under different lighting sources, especially between daylight and artificial illumination.

PMS 811 C is selected when extreme visibility and immediate attention are required, such as temporary signage, pop-up marketing environments, or trade show installations. The color is especially effective under full-spectrum lighting but may lose intensity under low or cool ambient light or when applied in matte finishes. Fluorescent oranges generally require careful substrate preparation and potentially additional coats for full opacity, due to their semi-translucent and highly pigmented nature. When compared to other saturated oranges, PMS 811 C appears more intense and striking, but users should test the color on actual surfaces and in the intended display lighting to confirm suitability.

Similar colors:
PMS 804 C: Lighter and slightly more yellow, suitable when a less red-based, high-visibility orange is desired.

PMS 1655 C: Deeper and less fluorescent, resulting in a more conventional, non-fluorescent vivid orange.

PMS 811 U: Shares similar hue but differs in finish and substrate behavior due to uncoated application, affecting vibrancy and intensity.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 811 C

How does the surface texture impact the appearance of Pantone PMS 811 C when painted on different materials?

The appearance of Pantone PMS 811 C can change noticeably depending on the texture of the surface it is applied to. Smooth surfaces reflect light evenly, giving the fluorescent orange a brighter and more intense look. On rough or textured surfaces, shadows and inconsistent reflectivity may cause PMS 811 C to appear slightly darker or less saturated. Because fluorescent colors are especially sensitive to light and finish, testing PMS 811 C on the actual substrate and texture is important to ensure the intended visual impact in brand or display settings.

When should I sample Pantone PMS 811 C before ordering paint for a project?

Sampling Pantone PMS 811 C is strongly recommended for large, high-visibility projects, or when formal brand approval is needed. Because PMS 811 C is a very vivid and fluorescent orange, its appearance can shift under different lighting conditions and on varying substrates. Sampling the color on your actual material and in your intended lighting allows you to confirm appearance, coverage, and brand alignment before committing to full production. This is especially important for marketing, brand experiences, or environments where color accuracy and visual impact are crucial.

Why is Pantone PMS 811 C often specified for sign, display, or exhibit fabrication?

Pantone PMS 811 C is often called out in brand standards for signs, displays, or exhibits because it provides a bold, highly visible, and consistent color target across different elements and vendors. Specifying PMS 811 C ensures that brand logos or graphics maintain visual consistency and stand out in marketing environments. For fabricated elements, sampling PMS 811 C on the actual substrate is recommended to confirm the delivered appearance matches expectations, as fluorescent colors are quite sensitive to lighting and material differences.

What is the typical production lead time for paint matched to Pantone PMS 811 C?

Paint matched to Pantone PMS 811 C is made to order. Typical production lead times depend on the type of paint, order size, and current production volume. Most orders ship in several business days, but lead time may increase during periods of high demand or for larger projects. If your timeline is critical for a brand launch or event, place your order as early as possible and consult current lead time estimates before confirming your schedule.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 811 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
