PMS 732 C is a Pantone Matching System (PMS) standard color. It is widely regarded as an earthy, muted, and stable shade of brown, with a distinctively grounded, traditional, and technical character. The color is utilized in the Pantone PMS system, which ensures consistent color reproduction across various materials and substrates for brand and industrial applications. With a very low LRV of 5.09, PMS 732 C is notably dark and projects an understated, serious tone suitable for environments requiring visual weight and authority.

- PMS 732 C exhibits a very dark appearance, reflected by its low LRV (5.09). - The color has a warm, earthy brown tendency. - PMS 732 C is moderately saturated but leans toward muted and subdued rather than vivid. - The undertone presents as yellowish or ochre, providing an organic, somewhat naturalistic feel. - This color’s appearance can shift with finish; matte finishes highlight its muted character, while gloss can introduce depth and emphasize undertones.

PMS 732 C works effectively for signage, displays, and environmental branding where a grounded, solid, and professional color is needed. Its low light reflectance helps minimize glare and supports legibility when used next to lighter elements. Users should be aware that surface finish and lighting conditions can affect the perceived warmth and depth of the color. When compared to other dark browns, PMS 732 C typically reads warmer and less reddish, with its ochre undertone offering differentiation. Sampling the color on target materials and under intended lighting is recommended for final confirmation.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 732 C

Has PMS 732 C been used by any brands or industries for notable applications?

PMS 732 C is an earthy, dark brown frequently chosen for exhibit components, signage, and branded displays that require an understated and stable visual impact. While many brands specify Pantone PMS colors for consistency, there is no widely documented unique brand association for PMS 732 C. Its primary value is supporting environments where a grounded, professional presence is needed rather than serving as a widely recognized brand-defining color.

When is it appropriate to order a standard Pantone PMS 732 C paint match?

Ordering a standard Pantone PMS 732 C paint match is best when your project needs brand-consistent color for displays, signage, prototypes, or marketing installations where the Pantone reference is the specified target. This applies when visual alignment with brand standards is more important than matching to a specific coating or substrate. For brand-facing environments and concept models, a standard PMS 732 C match helps ensure a consistent appearance across materials.

Why can PMS 732 C not be exactly converted to other paint brands' color codes?

PMS 732 C is a Pantone standard developed for consistent color communication, but each paint manufacturer maintains its own unique palette and formulas. Cross-referencing PMS 732 C to a store-brand color often leads to visible differences, particularly with muted or nuanced shades like this brown. For applications that specify PMS 732 C, always order using the Pantone code rather than substituting a lookalike from another brand.

What should I consider when applying PMS 732 C paint to plastic or low-energy surfaces?

When painting plastics or low-energy materials with PMS 732 C, surface preparation is critical. Plastics vary in how well paint adheres, so you may need a specific primer designed for plastic. Before moving to production or large-scale use, always test PMS 732 C on your actual material and in the intended finish to confirm adhesion, appearance, and durability. This precaution helps avoid costly errors and color acceptance issues.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 732 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 732 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 732 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

Most people don't use a primer for a touch up paint application, but a primer may improve adhesion and is typically recommended for exterior applications.
How do I convert PMS 732 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 732 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
