PMS 714 C (Pantone PMS system) is a bold yellow-orange with notable vibrancy, mid-level lightness, and visibility suited to attention-grabbing applications. The color presents a graphic, vivid, and energetic vibe, and is generally perceived as warm, lively, and modern in brand and marketing contexts.

PMS 714 C appears moderately light in value (LRV 54.93). The color has a strong warm tendency, leaning toward yellow within the orange spectrum. Saturation is high, resulting in pronounced chromatic intensity. An underlying yellow undertone contributes to its brightness and visual warmth. This color’s appearance can shift with finish; gloss or satin may intensify saturation, while matte or flat can reduce vibrancy.

PMS 714 C functions well where bold, high-visibility color is required, such as branded environments, retail displays, or event graphics. Evaluate the color in the actual lighting conditions and finish anticipated for the final use, as both factors can alter its vividness and warmth. It stands apart from similar oranges by presenting a notably more yellow influence and a striking presence, though it can appear less intense under low lighting or in matte finishes.

Similar colors:
PMS 137 C: Slightly more yellow and lighter, providing a brighter appearance.

PMS 165 C: More red and deeper, resulting in a stronger pure orange effect.

PMS 158 C: More neutral with less yellow, making it less vibrant and marginally darker.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 714 C

How do I make sure I am ordering the correct color when specifying Pantone PMS 714 C?

To avoid errors when ordering, always use the full Pantone code plus suffix, in this case 'PMS 714 C', rather than just the color name or a partial number. The letter suffix identifies the correct series or finish in the Pantone system. Providing the exact code ensures that your order matches your brand standard and avoids confusion with similar Pantone colors. Do not substitute with just 'orange' or 'Pantone 714' without the C suffix.

What are my options if I need Pantone PMS 714 C paint quickly for a project deadline?

If you have a tight timeline for a project requiring Pantone PMS 714 C, you can select expedited production during checkout when ordering. This option helps speed up manufacturing, but actual turnaround depends on order details and format. For critical deadlines, it is strongly recommended to contact MyPerfectColor directly before ordering so that your requirements and schedule can be confirmed.

What should I consider when comparing a sample of PMS 714 C paint for brand approval?

For reliable evaluation of PMS 714 C samples, always compare coated samples after they are fully dried and cured. Use consistent lighting, such as natural daylight or your actual display lighting. Compare on the same substrate and with the same sheen or finish expected in your application. Small differences in lighting, substrate, or gloss can affect the perceived color and influence brand approval decisions.

When do I need to use a primer with Pantone PMS 714 C paint?

The need for a primer when using Pantone PMS 714 C depends on the substrate, the paint format, and exposure conditions. Smooth or non-porous surfaces, previously unfinished materials, or high-contrast base colors may require a suitable primer for proper adhesion and color vibrancy. Highly saturated colors like PMS 714 C can benefit from a primer to improve coverage and reduce the number of coats needed. Refer to your specific product instructions or consult MyPerfectColor for guidance on primer selection for your application.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 714 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 714 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 714 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
