PMS 711 C from the Pantone Matching System is a highly saturated, medium-to-dark red with a strong warm tendency and vivid chromatic presence. The color delivers a visual character that can be described as assertive, energetic, saturated, and impactful, with a clear, warm undertone. Its typical use aligns with environments demanding precise and consistent brand color delivery across media and substrates.

PMS 711 C appears medium-dark in perceived lightness, consistent with a light reflectance value of 16.02. The color presents a distinctly warm hue, oriented toward orange-red. This color exhibits very high saturation, contributing to its visual intensity and prominence in application. The undertone of PMS 711 C is warm, with noticeable orange influences that differentiate it from more neutral reds. PMS 711 C shows moderate finish sensitivity; gloss or satin finishes will intensify its saturation and vibrancy, while matte finishes may slightly temper its visual energy.

PMS 711 C works well in branded environments, point-of-sale displays, and prototype components where a vivid, unequivocally warm red is mandated by brand standards or visual identity campaigns. For best results, evaluate PMS 711 C under the same lighting conditions and finish intended for the final installation, as both can alter its perceived depth and warmth. Compared to other reds, PMS 711 C is distinct for its high chromatic intensity and orange bias; it may appear more vibrant and less deep than cooler or less saturated reds. Surface preparation matters: uneven coverage or substrate influence can impact uniformity, especially due to its lower LRV and high chroma.

Similar colors:
PMS 485 C — Slightly lighter and more neutral, with less orange warmth.

PMS 186 C — Darker and marginally cooler, displaying more traditional crimson qualities.

PMS 172 C — More orange and even warmer, sitting closer to the orange spectrum.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 711 C

How should I compare PMS 711 C samples for approval to ensure the color is correct?

When evaluating PMS 711 C samples for brand approval, compare all samples under the same lighting conditions you expect in the final display or installation. Ensure that each sample is applied to the same type of substrate, as color appearance can shift on different materials. Allow all coatings to fully dry and cure before making your decision, since color and sheen can change as the paint sets. This process helps avoid surprises during the final installation and supports brand consistency.

Should I choose a matte or gloss finish for PMS 711 C in a brand display project?

Selecting between matte and gloss for PMS 711 C depends on your priorities. Gloss or satin finishes increase perceived saturation and make the color more vibrant, but they can introduce glare, especially in direct lighting. Matte finishes reduce glare and are more forgiving on imperfect surfaces, but may slightly mute the intensity of PMS 711 C. Consider the viewing distance and lighting in your installation environment. For displays viewed up close or under bright lights, matte may offer better visibility without unwanted reflections. For maximum visual impact at a distance, gloss can enhance color punch.

Why does PMS 711 C sometimes look different on various materials?

PMS 711 C may appear different across substrates due to each material's absorption, texture, and reflectivity characteristics. For accurate brand results, always evaluate PMS 711 C on the same material type and finish as your final build. Factors like surface preparation, primer choice, and substrate color can all influence perceived depth and warmth, especially with high-chroma reds like PMS 711 C. Test and approve color on your actual project material to confirm appearance before final production.

How do I order PMS 711 C paint on MyPerfectColor for a branded application?

To order PMS 711 C paint, first select your preferred paint format and type, such as spray paint or another listed option, based on your project needs. Choose the sheen (matte, gloss, etc.) that fits your brand standard or desired visual impact. Enter the quantity required and specify any further options relevant to your application. Always double-check each selection to ensure brand accuracy and consistency in the final result.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 711 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
