PMS 702 C is specified in the Pantone Matching System (Pantone PMS collection) and is characterized by a balanced reddish appearance. The color presents a muted and understated vibe, leaning toward warm, earthy, and approachable qualities. Its visual impression is often described as sophisticated, soft, and subtly retro, appearing particularly effective in brand, retail, and display environments where a more restrained yet discernible color statement is needed.

- PMS 702 C appears as a medium-depth color, presenting neither especially light nor extremely dark value (LRV: 24.92). - The color leans distinctly warm, with a visible reddish undertone that can shift slightly depending on ambient lighting. - Saturation is moderate; the color is neither highly chromatic nor particularly dull, presenting a muted but identifiable presence. - The undertone is earthy with noticeable warmth but limited to no yellow or orange accent, giving it a grounded quality. - PMS 702 C can show finish sensitivity; shinier finishes tend to strengthen its warmth and may enhance perceived saturation.

PMS 702 C works reliably where a controlled, muted reddish warmth is needed, such as in brand-forward displays or where softer color branding is preferred over high-contrast saturations. Evaluate the color in context, as shifts in gloss level and lighting can noticeably affect its warmth and depth. When used adjacent to more chromatic hues, PMS 702 C will read as more subdued but helps maintain visual interest without overwhelming. For consistent corporate applications, always confirm color appearance on target materials and with intended finish.

Similar colors:
PMS 708 C – Similar in hue but lighter and exhibits a more pastel, less muted effect.

PMS 704 C – A deeper, more saturated red that appears stronger and slightly cooler than PMS 702 C.

PMS 172 C – Much more chromatic and vivid, providing a significantly higher-contrast and less muted appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 702 C

How does specifying PMS 702 C support consistent brand experiences across different environments?

Specifying PMS 702 C as your brand color ensures that vendors and fabricators aim for the same standardized color target in displays, signage, and marketing installations. The Pantone PMS 702 C reference helps reproduce a unified visual identity so your branded elements look consistent whether produced by different suppliers or used in varied lighting and material situations. For best results, always confirm color appearance on the actual materials and finishes you will use.

How much area does one spray can of PMS 702 C cover and how should I estimate quantity for my project?

One 11oz spray can of PMS 702 C typically covers about 20 square feet with a single coat on a smooth, primed surface. Coverage may be less on rough or porous materials, or if multiple coats are needed for full opacity. For best brand consistency, factor in your project's total surface area, surface condition, and number of coats recommended for color uniformity. Consider ordering extra to account for overspray and test panels.

What does it mean when I order PMS 702 C paint and what are its limitations?

When you order PMS 702 C paint, you are requesting a color formulated to visually match the Pantone PMS 702 C standard, which is a visual target, not a specific coating formula. This ensures visual alignment with brand guidelines, but the exact shade may look different depending on substrate, finish, and lighting. The Pantone code does not specify gloss, application process, or exact pigment makeup. Always evaluate on your chosen material and finish as needed for projects where appearance is critical.

What is the typical production lead time for paint matched to Pantone PMS 702 C?

PMS 702 C paint is mixed to order, so lead time can vary based on product type and current order volume. Most orders ship within a few business days, but custom formats, high volume, or backorders may require additional time. For time-sensitive projects, check production estimates before ordering and allow extra time for delivery if you require multiple formats or specialty coatings.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 702 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 702 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 702 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

Most people don't use a primer for a touch up paint application, but a primer may improve adhesion and is typically recommended for exterior applications.
How do I convert PMS 702 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 702 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
