PMS 665 C is part of the Pantone Matching System, a collection widely used for consistent color reproduction across branding, marketing, and industrial design projects. This color is visually characterized by a balanced, corporate-friendly purple-violet impression with mild saturation, a moderate lightness (mid-range LRV), and a subdued character. The overall vibe is understated, businesslike, stable, technical, and quiet.

PMS 665 C exhibits a mid-level lightness, making it neither dark nor pastel (LRV: 51.53).

The color tends toward the cool side, with clear violet and blue undertones.

The saturation is mild, providing definite color presence without high chroma intensity.

The undertone is predominantly blue-violet, reducing any visible warmth.

This color may show moderate finish sensitivity, where glossier finishes increase the visual clarity and depth of the hue.

PMS 665 C is used when a clean, professional purple is needed without the distraction of excessive vibrance or overtly playful tones. It maintains visual stability in a variety of lighting environments but may appear slightly cooler or bluer under daylight-balanced or high-CRI sources. When evaluating or applying PMS 665 C, view physical samples in the finish and context intended for final use. It is less likely to clash with adjacent neutrals or other blues but may become less distinct against deep purples or saturated primary colors.

Similar colors:

  • PMS 667 C: Slightly darker and more saturated, presenting a deeper, more pronounced purple.
  • PMS 664 C: Lighter and less saturated, appearing as a softer, near-lavender off-white.
  • PMS 666 C: Very close in lightness but shows increased grayness and less chromatic clarity.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 665 C

What does it mean to order PMS 665 C in paint, and what should I expect from a Pantone match?

When you order PMS 665 C in paint, you are requesting a custom paint color matched to the PMS 665 C visual target from the Pantone Matching System. Pantone PMS is a standardized color reference used for communicating color specifications. It is not a paint formula or a specification for coating chemistry or finish. The paint you receive will be mixed to visually match PMS 665 C as closely as possible using available paint bases and tinting systems. This does not guarantee a match to every other material or finish, and appearance can vary due to surface, lighting, and gloss.

Are expedited production options available for PMS 665 C paint if I have a tight deadline?

Yes, expedited production options for PMS 665 C paint are available at checkout. If you have a critical deadline, select the expedited option during ordering. If timing is essential for your project success, contact MyPerfectColor directly to confirm what is possible and to discuss delivery commitments before finalizing your purchase.

How does the texture of my display or fixture affect the appearance of PMS 665 C?

The texture of your substrate can change how PMS 665 C looks in practice. Smoother surfaces usually reflect light more evenly, making the color appear clearer and more consistent. Rough or textured finishes can diffuse light, creating more shadows and potentially making the color look slightly darker or less saturated. Evaluate physical samples on the actual texture and finish you plan to use for the most accurate preview.

What should I consider when applying PMS 665 C paint to metal or previously powder-coated parts?

When applying PMS 665 C paint to metal or powder-coated parts, surface preparation is important. Clean and scuff the parts as needed to promote adhesion. The color can look different if applied over old coatings or varying sheens. Existing gloss or color underneath may influence the final appearance, so it is best to test a sample on your specific substrate before full production, especially for brand display or high-visibility projects.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 665 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 665 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 665 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

See our Primer Selection Table to see what primer you might need and learn more about when you might need a primer. Most people don't use a primer for a touch up paint application, but a primer may improve adhesion and is typically recommended for exterior applications.
How do I convert PMS 665 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 665 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
