PMS 659 C is a standardized color from the Pantone PMS system, frequently applied by marketing, display, and industrial design professionals seeking a dependable mid-range blue. This color’s visual character is clean, approachable, practical, and corporate-friendly. It provides a clear blue appearance with a moderate level of light reflectance.

PMS 659 C appears as a medium blue with an LRV of 29.25, offering moderate lightness without being pale. The color leans cool, with an evident blue chromaticity that avoids purple or green influences. PMS 659 C is moderately saturated, providing chromatic clarity without intensity that might read as vivid or electric. The undertone of this color remains predominantly blue, neither leaning noticeably toward teal nor violet. PMS 659 C has a relatively low sensitivity to finish, maintaining recognizable appearance across common commercial paint sheens.

PMS 659 C works well in contexts where a trustworthy, clear mid-blue is required to convey dependability and professionalism. It maintains legibility when used as a background or accent on displays, fixtures, and signage. When specifying or evaluating this color, ensure viewing under the intended lighting conditions, as cooler or warmer illumination will slightly shift its perceived tone. The color’s moderate saturation means it typically covers more evenly than brighter or more intense blues.

Similar colors:
PMS 290 C – This color is lighter and less saturated, reading as a paler sky blue.

PMS 660 C – Slightly deeper, giving a more pronounced and vivid blue cast.

PMS 2925 C – More chromatic and visually intense, producing a more striking blue presence.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 659 C

How do finish or sheen choices affect the appearance of Pantone PMS 659 C in real applications?

The finish or sheen you select for PMS 659 C can significantly change how the color is perceived in displays, prototypes, or brand environments. Gloss finishes reflect more light, which can make PMS 659 C appear brighter and slightly more saturated. Matte or flat finishes absorb more light, resulting in a softer, less intense blue. Satin finishes provide a middle ground, often giving a balanced look. For achieving brand consistency, review PMS 659 C samples under the lighting and finish conditions used in your application before finalizing product selection.

What is the best way to choose the right paint type for Pantone PMS 659 C to match my project needs?

Choosing the best paint type for PMS 659 C depends on your project's material, location, and exposure conditions. For display fabrication, signage, or branded environments, provide MyPerfectColor with details about your substrate, expected wear, and desired finish. Our team can recommend the most appropriate format, such as spray paint, paint pens, or epoxy, to achieve reliable results for PMS 659 C across marketing, display, or prototyping uses.

What safety and VOC considerations should I keep in mind when using paint matched to Pantone PMS 659 C?

Safety guidance and VOC exposure for paint matched to PMS 659 C depend on the specific product, such as spray paint, urethane, or epoxy. Always refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for your chosen product and follow recommended safe handling, ventilation, and protective equipment practices. If you have special project requirements, request VOC or safety documentation before ordering to ensure compliance with your needs for PMS 659 C applications.

How can I maintain a uniform PMS 659 C color appearance when applying it over large areas?

For consistent results with PMS 659 C across large surfaces, use the same product and application method throughout your project. Plan your work to maintain a wet edge and avoid stopping midway, as this can create visible lap marks. Apply even coats and allow proper drying between layers. PMS 659 C generally covers well due to its moderate saturation, but check coverage and appearance after the first coat before proceeding with additional layers for best brand consistency.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 659 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 659 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. Can I use the Pantone PMS 659 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How do I convert PMS 659 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 659 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information.
