Pantone™ PMS 658 C

PMS 658 C is a Pantone PMS standard designed for consistent visual reproduction, but most paint companies have their own unique palettes and formulations. This means PMS 658 C does not have an exact equivalent in other brands' systems, especially for colors with specific visual qualities like lightness, hue, or chroma. Cross-referencing to other brands usually results in approximate matches rather than true visual alignment, which can be critical for brand standards. When precise color accuracy is essential, always specify PMS 658 C directly or sample the intended product before full production.

If you require a touch-up-grade match for an existing surface that references PMS 658 C, the best approach is to send a physical sample or part to be matched. Pantone color standards like PMS 658 C are designed for consistent reproduction on new projects, displays, and brand environments, not for touch-up or repair. Custom matching ensures the closest possible result to your specific surface and material when exact touch-up is required.

VOC content and safety requirements for PMS 658 C depend entirely on the type of paint or coating you select, such as spray paint, epoxy, or house paint. Always review the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for your chosen product, follow all handling instructions, use proper ventilation, and wear recommended personal protective equipment. The Pantone code PMS 658 C specifies only the color, not the safety or environmental properties of the final product.

When specifying PMS 658 C for a project, choose an interior or exterior paint based on where the coated item will be placed and the expected exposure. Use interior paint for indoor displays and environments protected from weather. For outdoor or high-exposure locations, select an exterior-grade product that offers greater durability and weather resistance. The color PMS 658 C can be matched in a range of formats, but selecting the appropriate base ensures lasting performance and appearance.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
