PMS 657 C is part of the Pantone Matching System and functions as a light, understated blue with a cool orientation. Its overall vibe is clean, muted, professional, and gentle, making it suitable for applications where a subdued yet distinct hue is desired.
PMS 657 C appears light in tone, with a listed LRV of 62.16. The color exhibits a cool bias, falling on the blue to blue-violet spectrum. PMS 657 C shows moderate saturation, maintaining subtle chromaticity without becoming vibrant. The undertone of this color reads as a muted blue with a faint violet influence. The color’s appearance may shift subtly under different finishes, with higher gloss levels increasing its clean, crisp character.
PMS 657 C works effectively in spaces or brand assets requiring a legible, calm blue that avoids intensity. It should be evaluated in the intended setting, as finish and lighting can influence its perceived brightness and coolness. Compared to other light blues, PMS 657 C tends toward the cooler and quieter end of the range. When selecting this color for a painted application, maintain even surface preparation and consider the effect of sheen; glossier applications may emphasize its blue content, while matte finishes will soften its appearance.

Pantone PMS 657 C is a standardized color reference, but it does not define sheen, substrate condition, or application method. Because of this, specifying PMS 657 C for touch-up work on an existing coating may result in mismatches in gloss, texture, and appearance. Pantone codes are effective for new brand-facing applications but are not tight enough to serve as reliable touch-up matches for finishes applied by different processes and on various materials.
The Safety Data Sheet (SDS) you need depends on the specific paint or coating product format selected for PMS 657 C, not just the color code. Once you choose your desired product type, refer to the SDS library for that particular paint. If you have trouble locating the correct SDS, contact MyPerfectColor for assistance.
Yes, suffixes and series in Pantone codes, such as the 'C' in PMS 657 C, indicate important details about the original reference, like substrate or finish type. Always confirm that you are using the correct series or suffix as specified in your brand standards or documentation before ordering, to ensure the intended color target is achieved.
If you are unsure which paint type or format is best for your PMS 657 C project, contact MyPerfectColor. Provide details about your substrate, exposure conditions, and finish goals. The team will recommend appropriate products to help achieve visual alignment with your brand color.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 657 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
