PMS 645 C from the Pantone PMS collection is a moderately dark, subdued blue with a noticeably cool undertone and restrained chroma. The color typically conveys a calm, technical, and reserved vibe. It is frequently selected for contexts requiring a professional or low-visibility blue that supports clear, consistent branding without high saturation or brightness. The Pantone PMS system is used to ensure consistent color reproduction across diverse materials and brand assets.

PMS 645 C has a moderate lightness, appearing as a mid-value blue (LRV 29.25).

The color reads cool due to its hue angle and overall blue orientation.

The saturation level is medium-low, resulting in a desaturated, somewhat muted appearance.

An underlying grayish undertone is present, contributing to a more understated and professional look.

PMS 645 C shows moderate finish sensitivity; gloss finishes may emphasize subtle blue undertones while matte finishes accentuate its muted nature.

PMS 645 C works well when a quiet, reliable blue is required for brand, display, or architectural finishes where high saturation is not appropriate. It performs reliably under various lighting conditions but may appear significantly more muted in low light or on matte surfaces. Compared with brighter or more chromatic blues, PMS 645 C is less likely to overpower other design elements, making it suitable for secondary branding or institutional applications. Evaluate on target substrates and finishes before specification, especially under typical lighting for the application.

Similar colors:

  • PMS 644 C — Lighter and slightly cooler, providing a more open and airy effect compared to PMS 645 C.
  • PMS 646 C — Darker and more chromatic, reading as a deeper and more saturated blue in branding contexts.
  • PMS 5435 C — More muted and grayish, for when an even softer and less saturated blue is needed.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 645 C

Why does it matter that PMS 645 C is reproduced under Pantone license?

PMS 645 C is a Pantone standard, meaning the color must meet strict visual specifications for brand and marketing consistency. MyPerfectColor is authorized by Pantone to reproduce PMS 645 C in paint, which ensures you are receiving a color match based on official Pantone reference data. This is critical for projects where brand integrity and approved color reproduction matter. Unauthorized or unofficial reproductions may not align with your brand standard, resulting in visual inconsistencies across materials or displays.

What are the exact steps to order Pantone PMS 645 C as paint on MyPerfectColor?

To order paint matched to PMS 645 C on MyPerfectColor, first select the paint format needed for your project, such as spray paint, paint pen, or housepaint. Next, choose the sheen or finish that matches your intended use and environment. Set the quantity you require and review any available size or performance options. Before finalizing, confirm all selections match your brand or project requirements, since changes in sheen or substrate may affect the final appearance. When satisfied, add your order to the cart and proceed through checkout.

How should I use PMS 645 C in prototype or concept model work?

PMS 645 C is appropriate for prototypes and concept models when accurate brand color demonstration is required. Choose the format that fits your process, such as spray paint for even coverage on model surfaces or paint pens for detail work. Apply PMS 645 C to sample parts or test substrates first to evaluate color alignment with your intended environment and materials. Review the result under typical lighting conditions for the finished project, paying attention to how finish and substrate influence the final look. This approach helps ensure brand visual alignment before full implementation.

When is it appropriate to use PMS 645 C as a standard color match for my project?

Select PMS 645 C as a standard match when your project requires visual brand accuracy for displays, signage, prototypes, or marketing installations, and the Pantone reference is the target standard. It is best used when the paint will be viewed by clients or customers and the goal is to achieve a consistent, professional appearance across branded elements. For projects where brand impact and recognition matter more than matching an existing painted surface, PMS 645 C as a standard is the appropriate choice. If you are working on a complex environment or need approval on site, consider testing a sample first or consulting with stakeholders.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 645 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
