PMS 5845 C is specified within the Pantone Matching System collection, widely referenced in marketing, signage, and industrial design contexts requiring precise brand color communication. The color presents a subdued, utilitarian, and calm vibe, with a muted greenish-yellow cast and controlled saturation. It is often selected when a color is needed to convey an organic or naturally grounded impression without drawing undue attention.

PMS 5845 C reads as a medium-light color; its LRV of 37.97 places it below mid-tone.

The color has a cool-yellow to soft-green tendency, influenced by its hue angle.

The saturation level is moderate; chroma is present but not vivid, resulting in a restrained effect.

The undertone is muted olive; visible but not overt, with some earthiness.

The color may be sensitive to finish selection, with matte finishes enhancing its natural quality and higher gloss levels introducing a subtle sheen that can affect perceived warmth.

PMS 5845 C is effective when a calm, unobtrusive color is required for branded spaces, display elements, or products referencing nature or sustainability. It performs consistently across various sheens and substrates but may shift slightly under warm or cool light sources—sampling in project lighting is advised. Compared to brighter or more chromatic yellow-greens, PMS 5845 C reads as quieter and less likely to show color shifts between adjacent surfaces or under variable light, though careful substrate preparation still improves uniformity.

This Pantone PMS color is defined by the Pantone Matching System standard. Evaluate the color using a physical Pantone reference and a real paint sample in the intended lighting and finish. Paint appearance varies by finish and lighting.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 5845 C

Why is PMS 5845 C not recommended as a touch-up specification for existing products or coatings?

Pantone PMS 5845 C should not be used as a touch-up reference for existing finishes because Pantone codes do not specify gloss, substrate, or application process. Paint batches matched to PMS 5845 C may look different on various surfaces, under different lighting, or when applied over existing coatings. For reliable results, always use a touch-up method based on the original manufacturer's specifications or an actual sample from the installed finish.

How do I order paint matched to Pantone PMS 5845 C on MyPerfectColor?

To order paint matched to PMS 5845 C, use the MyPerfectColor product page for that color. Choose your preferred paint type (such as spray paint, paint pen, or house paint), select the desired sheen, specify the quantity, and confirm any other options shown. Make sure your selection matches your project's substrate and environment. If you have specific needs for branding, marketing, or display applications, select the option that best aligns with those requirements.

How can surface texture affect the appearance of PMS 5845 C?

Surface texture plays a key role in how PMS 5845 C appears once applied. A rough or matte substrate will diffuse light, making the color look softer and sometimes lighter. Smooth or glossy finishes reflect more light and can make PMS 5845 C look deeper or slightly more saturated. Always sample the color on your actual material and with your intended finish to ensure the final appearance meets your project goals.

What should I consider when choosing PMS 5845 C paint for interior vs exterior use?

When selecting a PMS 5845 C paint for your project, consider whether it will be used indoors or outdoors. For exterior applications, choose a paint type formulated for outdoor durability and weather resistance. For interior projects, interior-rated paints are suitable and may offer a wider range of finishes. Always confirm the paint type and sheen will provide the performance and appearance you expect under your specific use conditions.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 5845 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
