Pantone™ PMS 547 C

Pantone PMS 547 C is a very dark, saturated blue-green. Matching this color accurately across different substrates or finishes can be challenging due to its deep chroma and low light reflectance. Any differences in material, lighting, or gloss can cause visible shifts from the Pantone reference. MyPerfectColor formulates PMS 547 C to target the true Pantone standard, but final appearance will always be influenced by the physical reference, the chosen finish, and your specific conditions. For the best result, always compare a painted sample to a physical Pantone guide under the intended lighting and finish before production.

Finish has a major impact on how PMS 547 C appears. In a gloss or semi-gloss, PMS 547 C will look deeper and more saturated, while in matte, the same color can appear flatter, less intense, and even closer to black in low light. Because PMS 547 C is very dark with low LRV, subtle changes in sheen can make a strong visual difference. It is important to evaluate both color and finish together, using real samples, to ensure your brand or display application achieves the intended visual result.

Proper surface preparation is vital for achieving an even, accurate appearance with PMS 547 C. Start by thoroughly cleaning and degreasing the surface to remove contaminants. Lightly scuff glossy or slick substrates to improve adhesion. Because dark, saturated colors like PMS 547 C highlight imperfections, ensure the surface is smooth and free of defects. Always test a small area first to confirm compatibility and appearance before proceeding with the full project.

Sampling PMS 547 C is strongly recommended for high-visibility brand rollouts, large display fabrications, or when your project uses novel substrates or unique lighting. This step helps you check that the color, finish, and substrate all meet your expectations and brand standards. Sampling is also advised if approval of appearance is required by your brand stakeholders. Review the sample under actual lighting and conditions to ensure full alignment before full-scale painting.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
