Pantone™ PMS 546 C

When comparing PMS 546 C samples for approval, always evaluate the samples under the same lighting conditions you expect in the final environment. Use the same substrate material for all samples, and allow all coatings to fully dry or cure before making a final judgment. Differences in lighting, substrate, or dry time can cause PMS 546 C to appear darker or shift slightly between blue and green, so consistency is key to accurate approval.

Pantone PMS 546 C is a very dark, subdued blue-green with low light reflectance. While it is less vivid than other bright Pantone colors, coverage can still be an issue if applied over light surfaces or uneven backgrounds. For best results, consider using a dark-colored undercoat close to PMS 546 C or a uniform neutral gray to improve consistency and reduce the number of coats needed. Always test on your actual substrate, and plan for additional coats if complete hiding is critical to your project.

To avoid confusion when ordering, always use the full Pantone code 'PMS 546 C' rather than only the color name. The code specifies the exact color target in the Pantone Matching System and helps eliminate mistakes with similar shades. Pay attention to any suffix or series details such as the 'C' (coated) which differentiates PMS 546 C from other finishes like U (uncoated). If your branding guidelines require a specific version, always confirm the code before ordering.

Ordering a standard Pantone PMS 546 C paint match is appropriate for most marketing, display, exhibit, and prototype applications where the Pantone reference itself is the required color standard. If your project needs to visually align with brand guidelines or match other display elements using PMS 546 C, the standard match is usually correct. However, for permanent installations or multi-material environments, consider verifying appearance with a sample under your actual lighting and substrate before finalizing large orders.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
