PMS 510 C is part of the Pantone Matching System (Pantone PMS) collection, used for consistent brand identity and industrial design applications. The color presents a muted, medium-light red with a slightly cool undertone and moderate chroma, giving it a composed and approachable vibe. It is perceived as balanced, calm, and contemporary, fitting for environments and applications where a soft but identifiable color presence is required.

PMS 510 C appears light to mid-range in value, with a numeric LRV of 60.3. The color exhibits a cool tendency compared to other reds, with a subtle bluish undertone. Saturation is moderate, resulting in a color that is noticeable but not overly vivid. PMS 510 C has a soft, muted rose character, avoiding the harshness or intensity of more chromatic reds. The color may shift slightly in appearance depending on finish and lighting, especially under strong cool or warm ambient conditions.

PMS 510 C works well for design scenarios that call for a controlled, professional red without aggressive vibrancy. It provides good visibility and legibility in most lighting scenarios but can read cooler and softer in north-facing or LED-lit spaces. For best results, evaluate the color using a physical Pantone reference and painted sample in the intended finish and lighting to account for any perceptual shifts. Surface preparation and primer selection should ensure consistent coverage, as muted reds can sometimes require more attention to evenness compared to more saturated shades.

PMS 508 C – Lighter and slightly warmer, with a more delicate rosy tone.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 510 C

What should I know about the durability of PMS 510 C spray paint for branding applications?

The durability of PMS 510 C spray paint depends on several factors, including how well the surface is prepared, whether a suitable primer is used, and whether a clear topcoat is applied where needed. For projects where PMS 510 C will be exposed to handling, weather, or heavy use, choose a product type that matches those demands and consider a protective clear coat for added resistance. Always check the specifications for each paint format and finish. Substrate compatibility and use environment have a strong impact on the long-term appearance and resilience of the PMS 510 C color.

Can I expedite production of PMS 510 C paint if I need it quickly for an event?

Yes, expedited production for PMS 510 C paint is available as an option during checkout. If meeting a specific deadline is critical for your branding, fabrication, or display project, select expedited production, and also contact MyPerfectColor to confirm whether your production and shipping needs can be met. Discuss your timeline early for best results.

How does surface texture affect the appearance of PMS 510 C when applied?

The look of PMS 510 C can change depending on the surface texture. Smoother surfaces typically make the color appear more even and can look brighter, while textured or matte surfaces can create shadowing and reduce reflectivity, making PMS 510 C read slightly darker or less saturated. Always review a physical sample of PMS 510 C in the intended finish and on the target substrate before completing your order to minimize surprises.

What should I do to achieve a consistent finish with PMS 510 C over a large display?

For even coverage of PMS 510 C over a large area, use consistent application methods and plan your work to avoid overlapping dry edges. Make sure the surface is properly prepared and primed with a suitable base color to promote uniformity. Because muted reds can sometimes reveal unevenness, apply multiple thin coats and monitor for patchiness between each layer. Testing on a sample surface and reviewing the result in your actual lighting conditions helps ensure brand consistency.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 510 C?

Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. Can I use the Pantone PMS 510 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

Most people don't use a primer for a touch up paint application, but a primer may improve adhesion and is typically recommended for exterior applications.
How do I convert PMS 510 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 510 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
