PMS 5035 C is part of the Pantone Matching System (PMS), a color specification collection widely used for branding, marketing, and industrial design. Visually, PMS 5035 C delivers a muted, restrained presence with a soft red-brown hue. It conveys a composed, understated, and approachable vibe, well-suited for design scenarios prioritizing subtlety over vibrancy.

PMS 5035 C appears lightly colored, with a relatively high LRV (64.07), resulting in a light value on most surfaces. The color features a warm tendency, based on a low hue angle in the red region. It exhibits low to moderate saturation, giving it a muted appearance rather than bold chromatic intensity. Undertones are subtle and earthy, leaning towards soft taupe or red-brown. The color is generally not highly finish sensitive, but gloss may increase the perceived warmth and depth.

PMS 5035 C is most effective for branding and display elements where a gentle, unassertive tone is needed. It performs well in environments with balanced to warm lighting, which helps retain its nuanced earthy undertone. Compared to deeper or more saturated PMS reds, PMS 5035 C offers less visual dominance, reducing contrast and preventing color from overpowering nearby brand elements. For highest fidelity, confirm color appearance using both a Pantone swatch and a production sample, especially for final approval in varied finish types.

Similar colors:
PMS 500 C — Similar but lighter and slightly cooler in undertone.

PMS 5045 C — Darker and slightly more muted, increasing the perceived depth.

PMS 4745 C — More neutral and beige, with less pronounced red content.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 5035 C

How should I approach using Pantone PMS 5035 C paint in a pop-up or retail environment?

When using Pantone PMS 5035 C in pop-up or retail environments, durability, lighting, and sampling are key considerations. Evaluate the typical lighting at the installation site because PMS 5035 C may appear warmer or lighter under certain conditions. For durable results, select a paint format and finish appropriate for how the element will be handled or cleaned. Always test the paint on a sample substrate in the planned environment before large-scale production to confirm appearance and performance. This helps ensure visual alignment with your brand standards across installed elements.

What should I consider when applying PMS 5035 C matched paint to plastic or low-energy surfaces?

Not all plastics or low-energy surfaces accept paint readily. When specifying PMS 5035 C for plastics, first confirm the surface type and whether a primer is needed to promote adhesion. Many plastics require specific primers or surface treatments. Test PMS 5035 C paint on a sample of the actual material before final production to verify both adhesion and color appearance, as plastics can affect how the color is perceived and how well it bonds.

Will PMS 5035 C paint appear exactly the same as the PMS guide swatch or Pantone book reference?

Pantone books serve as reference standards for color targets, but PMS 5035 C paint may look different from the swatch, especially depending on sheen, finish, and substrate. Factors like gloss level and substrate material can alter the perceived warmth or depth of PMS 5035 C. For brand-critical or high-visibility projects, always compare painted samples to the Pantone reference in your actual lighting conditions and on the final material before full production.

How much area does one spray can of PMS 5035 C typically cover?

The coverage for a spray can of PMS 5035 C depends on surface texture, color, and the number of coats needed. As a general guide, one 11-12 ounce spray can may cover about 20 square feet with one coat on a smooth, primed surface. Highly absorbent or textured materials, or projects requiring multiple coats for uniform color, may require more paint. Always account for these factors in your quantity estimates to avoid running short during installation.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 5035 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 5035 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 5035 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How much area will one spray can cover? And what is Pantone PMS 5035 C spray paint made of?

To make spray paint matched to Pantone PMS 5035 C. MyPerfectColor uses an acrylic enamel which is a fast-drying durable coating suitable for interior or exterior use. MyPerfectColor custom spray paint enables you to conveniently achieve a professional spray-smooth finish in any color in any sheen. It sticks well to most surfaces including metal, plastics, powder-coatings, cabinets and primed or previously painted wood.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.

See our Primer Selection Table to see what primer you might need and learn more about when you might need a primer. Most people don't use a primer for a touch up paint application, but a primer may improve adhesion and is typically recommended for exterior applications.
How do I convert PMS 5035 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 5035 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
