Pantone™ PMS 498 C

The perceived color of Pantone PMS 498 C can vary depending on the texture of the surface. Uneven or textured surfaces scatter light differently than smooth ones, which may cause PMS 498 C to appear slightly lighter or darker, more or less saturated, or even to have subtle sheen-related shifts. For brand-critical applications, always confirm the color appearance on the actual finished substrate and under the intended lighting before final approval.

To achieve the best results with Pantone PMS 498 C, begin by thoroughly cleaning and degreasing the surface to remove dust, oil, and residues. Lightly scuff glossy surfaces to promote adhesion, using appropriate abrasives for the material. After prep, wipe down and ensure the area is dry. Always test the paint in a small, inconspicuous spot to check for adhesion and color appearance before completing the entire project.

The durability of PMS 498 C spray paint depends on surface preparation, the selected paint type, topcoat choice, and environmental conditions. Properly prepared substrates and appropriate topcoats will improve scratch and weather resistance. For demanding or outdoor settings, confirm that your paint system is suited to the exposure level required, and consider additional clear coats where applicable.

For even, brand-consistent color with PMS 498 C, spray several light coats rather than a single heavy coat. Allow suitable drying or flash time between coats to prevent drips and streaking, especially with a deep, muted color like PMS 498 C. This approach helps achieve uniform coverage and reduces the risk of uneven sheen or color variation.

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
