PMS 489 C is a Pantone Matching System standard color with a light, restrained character and a low-chroma, peach-tinted appearance that sits between warm beige and delicate pink. It is defined by a higher light reflectance value, projecting a soft, approachable, and understated vibe, yet maintains enough warmth to feel inviting. This color is widely recognized for use in professional branding, packaging, and marketing contexts where a subtle but distinctive visual identity is required.
- PMS 489 C features a light appearance, supported by an LRV of 66.01. - The color shows a warm tendency, influenced by its position in the yellow-orange hue range. - PMS 489 C exhibits low-to-moderate saturation, resulting in a soft and muted presentation. - It carries gentle peach and pinkish-beige undertones. - The color may appear lighter or slightly cooler under high-intensity lighting or in glossy finishes, so finish choice affects perceived warmth and lightness.
PMS 489 C is operationally well-suited to brand displays, packaging, or signage requiring a light, approachable tone that avoids overt vibrancy. This color can be affected by lighting—cooler or very bright environments may make it appear slightly less warm, while matte finishes will further mute its character. For applications demanding precise brand accuracy or cross-material consistency, always evaluate sample panels in the intended lighting and finish because its subtle hue may shift depending on substrate or gloss. Compared to similar light, warm shades, PMS 489 C is differentiated by its particularly muted peachy undertone.

When you order PMS 489 C Pantone paint, you are receiving a color that is specifically matched to the PMS 489 C standard. The Pantone Matching System (PMS) is a standardized color reference used for visual brand consistency. Ordering this paint means you are targeting the PMS 489 C color appearance, but it does not mean you are getting an official Pantone product, Pantone formula, or Pantone-approved finish. Instead, the paint is produced to visually match the PMS 489 C target as closely as possible in your chosen format and finish. The result may appear different based on the substrate, application method, and lighting, so always verify a sample in the final environment if strict approval is required.
One 11-ounce spray can of PMS 489 C paint typically covers about 20 to 25 square feet of smooth, primed surface with one light to medium coat. The actual coverage depends on the surface texture, color of the substrate, application technique, and whether more than one coat is needed for full, uniform color. For accurate estimating, calculate the total surface area to be coated, allow for two or more coats on porous or contrasting substrates, and consider extra for a test area. For brand displays or signage where consistency is important, ordering a small amount extra for sampling and adjustments is recommended.
Pantone PMS 489 C is a unique color standard, and other paint brands do not offer direct or guaranteed matches for this specific color code. Most paint companies have proprietary palettes, so cross-referencing is rarely exact, especially for subtle or distinctive colors like PMS 489 C. If your project requires brand consistency or alignment with design standards, always specify PMS 489 C and order paints labeled as Pantone-matched. Do not assume that near matches in other brands will provide the same appearance, as differences can be noticeable in professional settings.
Using a primer is often recommended before applying PMS 489 C, especially on bare surfaces, porous substrates, or where a drastic color change is involved. Primer helps improve adhesion, provides a uniform base for even color, and can reduce the number of coats needed for full coverage. If you are applying PMS 489 C to metal, plastic, raw wood, or over dark or highly contrasting existing colors, a suitable primer improves both color consistency and long-term durability. Always select the primer appropriate for your substrate and exposure conditions for best results.
Unfortunately, no.
Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.
The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 489 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
