Pantone™ PMS 472 C

Pantone PMS 472 C is a standardized color reference used to communicate an exact color target. However, it does not specify the sheen, substrate, or application methods present on existing products or coatings. Because of these differences, using PMS 472 C as a touch-up reference may result in visible mismatches in gloss, texture, or appearance. For ongoing projects or repairs, it is safer to source paint matched to your original finish and material rather than relying on the Pantone code alone.

For best results when applying Pantone PMS 472 C, start by making sure the surface is clean, dry, and free of dust, oil, or grease. Degrease and lightly scuff glossy or slick surfaces to promote adhesion. Patch and sand any uneven areas as needed. Always test a small area with PMS 472 C paint to confirm adhesion and appearance before proceeding with the full project. Proper surface prep helps ensure uniform color and finish.

Pantone PMS 472 C is a light, muted brown-orange and typically provides moderate coverage. Some Pantone colors, especially those that are very bright or saturated, may require multiple coats for full and even coverage, especially over dark or uneven surfaces. To achieve consistent brand results, plan for additional coats if you are working on challenging substrates or if covering a contrasting base color.

Pantone PMS 472 C paint is made to order to ensure color accuracy. Lead times depend on the product type and current production volume but typically range from a few days for common formats to longer for custom or large volume requests. It is best to place orders early, especially for time-sensitive marketing or display projects.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
