PMS 4505 C is part of the Pantone PMS system, a standard for brand-consistent color reproduction across various media and materials. This color reads as an understated, earthy, and muted olive-brown with a low to moderate light reflectance. It conveys a utilitarian and neutral vibe, often aligned with natural, subdued, or technical aesthetics. Its efficacy in branding contexts stems from its ability to recede visually while providing a stable, non-distracting backdrop.

- PMS 4505 C appears medium-dark, with a numeric LRV of 25.96. - The color presents a predominantly warm tendency, leaning toward an olive-moss base. - Saturation is restrained, resulting in a subdued, earthy quality. - PMS 4505 C shows a yellow-brown undertone, reducing visual harshness. - The color’s muted nature resists significant shifts across finish types, but increased sheen may incrementally enhance color depth.

PMS 4505 C is well-suited for branding, marketing fixtures, and display elements where a grounded, organic, or unintrusive presence is required. Care should be taken to evaluate the color under typical project lighting, as warmer or cooler light may affect its olive character. Compared to more vivid or gray-neutral colors, PMS 4505 C provides more visual warmth and earthiness. Surface preparation is important to avoid unevenness, especially with low-sheen finishes.

PMS 451 C offers a lighter and slightly yellower alternative, producing a less dense appearance.

PMS 450 C is darker and more saturated, providing heavier visual weight.

PMS 4525 C is lighter and more muted, resulting in a softer, more neutral effect.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 4505 C

Will PMS 4505 C provide full coverage in a single coat, or should I plan for additional coats?

PMS 4505 C is a muted olive-brown color, and like most Pantone colors, it may require more than one coat for uniform coverage, especially over contrasting base colors or on porous substrates. To achieve a brand-consistent appearance and proper hide, plan for at least two coats and always test on your actual substrate to confirm results.

What should I consider when applying PMS 4505 C paint to metal or powder-coated surfaces?

When using PMS 4505 C on metal or powder-coated parts, it is important to properly clean and scuff the surface to promote adhesion. The gloss and texture of existing finishes can affect how PMS 4505 C looks once applied, so prepare all surfaces consistently. Evaluating a sample on your actual material under anticipated lighting will help ensure the match meets your brand expectations before committing to a full production run.

How is PMS 4505 C typically used for sign, display, or exhibit fabrication?

PMS 4505 C is specified for brand consistency across signage, displays, and exhibits where accurate color representation is important. It is commonly used to meet branding requirements for fabricated elements. For best results, review samples applied to your exact materials and under your project lighting to confirm that PMS 4505 C presents the desired visual effect before final approval or installation.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 4505 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

How do I convert PMS 4505 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 4505 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
