Pantone™ PMS 444 C

Pantone PMS 444 C is a standardized color for visual branding, not a paint brand formula. Most commercial paint brands have unique palettes and pigment systems, so cross-referencing PMS 444 C to another manufacturer''s color is rarely precise. If brand consistency is the priority, always specify and match against the Pantone PMS 444 C standard directly rather than relying on close equivalents from other brands.

The finish selected for PMS 444 C influences both appearance and usability. A matte finish reduces glare and makes the gray appear more subdued, ideal for minimizing distraction in well-lit or large spaces. A gloss finish increases visual punch, boosting perceived saturation and crispness but can cause reflections in certain lighting. Consider the display environment, viewing angles, and lighting when deciding. For accurate approval, request samples in the intended finish.

To get a valid read of PMS 444 C during approval, compare all samples side by side under consistent lighting and on the same substrate. Let coatings fully dry and cure before final judgment, as wet or uncured paint can shift in appearance. If possible, view samples in the environment and lighting in which the final installation will be seen for the most accurate assessment.

Uniformity for PMS 444 C across large areas depends on consistent application techniques and planning. Use the same type of applicator throughout the job, maintain wet edges to prevent lap marks, and apply recommended coats for full coverage. Allow proper drying time between coats to avoid patchy appearance. Sampling on the actual substrate and lighting before the full project helps confirm the look.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

The 11oz spray will cover about 20 square feet per coat. Keep in mind that it is difficult to gauge how much spray you'll need as it is highly dependent on how it is applied. It is better to have too much than run short.
