PMS 391 C is a Pantone Matching System color from the PMS collection. It presents as a muted, yellow-leaning green with an assertive, utilitarian character. The overall vibe is technical, natural, grounded, and conspicuous. This color often conveys functional clarity and a bold presence in professional applications.

PMS 391 C appears medium-dark, with an LRV of 27.03 indicating moderate reflectance and noticeable visual weight. The color presents a distinctly warm undertone due to its strong yellow component. The saturation level is high, producing a vivid but not neon intensity. The undertone is earthy and olive-like, which sets it apart from more neutral or cooler greens. Finish visibly affects perception: higher gloss finishes can amplify its brightness and chromaticity, while matte finishes subdue its reflectance and intensify its utilitarian appearance.

PMS 391 C is frequently referenced in environmental branding, wayfinding graphics, and applications where clear visual differentiation is required. This color is often specified in marketing environments for displays aiming to evoke natural, durable, or utility themes.

PMS 391 C is operationally effective for projects where a visible, earthy green-yellow is needed for brand recognition or user guidance. It maintains distinction under moderate to strong lighting but may shift in apparent warmth depending on finish and surrounding colors. The high saturation can reveal application inconsistencies on porous or uneven surfaces, so proper surface prep and even application are important. Compared to similar colors, PMS 391 C is most differentiated by its warm, yellow-olive undertone and its balance between not being overly bright yet remaining highly recognizable.

This Pantone PMS color is defined by the Pantone Matching System standard. Evaluate the color using a physical Pantone reference and a real paint sample in the intended lighting and finish. Paint appearance varies by finish and lighting.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 391 C

How does the finish or sheen affect the appearance of Pantone PMS 391 C in branding or marketing environments?

The finish you select for PMS 391 C, such as gloss, satin, or matte, has a significant impact on how the color is perceived. Gloss finishes make PMS 391 C appear brighter and heighten its saturation, which can increase its visibility in display and brand applications. Matte finishes reduce reflected light, giving the color a more subdued and utilitarian appearance while emphasizing its earthy character. It is important to evaluate PMS 391 C in the target finish and under real lighting to ensure your project matches your visual and branding requirements.

How does surface texture influence the look of PMS 391 C when used for marketing displays or fabricated components?

Surface texture changes how PMS 391 C will look in practice. Smooth surfaces tend to reflect light evenly, which makes the color appear more uniform and may enhance its vibrancy. Textured or rough surfaces can create shadows and uneven reflectance, causing PMS 391 C to appear darker, more muted, or visually inconsistent across an installation. For consistent brand presentation, test the color and finish on the actual substrate and texture planned for your project.

What do I need to consider when applying PMS 391 C paint to plastics or low-energy surfaces?

When using PMS 391 C on plastic or other low-surface-energy materials, compatibility and adhesion should be reviewed early. Many plastics, such as polypropylene or acrylic, require special primers or preparation to ensure that PMS 391 C paint adheres correctly and remains durable. It is strongly recommended to test the paint system on your specific plastic before proceeding with production or installation, as results can vary based on surface chemistry and texture.

What is the typical lead time for ordering PMS 391 C paint for branding or display projects?

PMS 391 C paint is made to order to ensure a proper match to the Pantone color standard. Typical lead times depend on the product type, such as spray paint or specialty coatings, and current production volume. It is best to plan ahead and allow additional time for custom color mixing, as well as shipping. Confirm current lead time before placing your order if your project has firm installation or launch dates.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 391 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 391 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. Can I use the Pantone PMS 391 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
