When you order a paint product matched to Pantone PMS 370 C, you are receiving a paint custom mixed to visually match the standardized PMS 370 C color target as defined by the Pantone Matching System. This match is based on color appearance, not on an official Pantone coating formula, ink, or material specification. Be sure to confirm the finish and sheen requirements of your project, as the supplied paint will be matched to the color reference and not to a specific original coating brand or process.

Whether you need a primer before applying PMS 370 C depends on your paint type, surface material, and environmental exposure. Generally, primer is recommended when painting bare, porous, or hard-to-bond surfaces, or when switching between coatings with different chemistries. Using a primer can help achieve better adhesion, a more uniform PMS 370 C appearance, and longer-lasting results. Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
