PMS 370 C is a standard color from the Pantone Matching System (PMS) collection, widely used in brand management, display fabrication, and industrial design for its exact reproducibility across various materials. Visually, PMS 370 C presents a subdued, organic, utilitarian appearance. It is often described as understated, reliable, and practical, with a natural, muted vibe suitable for applications requiring a grounded, unobtrusive green.

PMS 370 C appears distinctly dark for a green, with an LRV of 20.14, resulting in low reflectance. The color has a cool, muted green character, leaning more towards olive with relatively low brightness. It displays moderate saturation; chroma is evident but not vibrant or attention-seeking. The undertone is earthy and olive, with little overt yellow or blue influence. The finish may slightly affect perceived depth, with matte finishes emphasizing its utilitarian look and higher sheens potentially shifting the perceived depth or bringing out subtle yellowish undertones.

PMS 370 C is a practical choice for branding, displays, and installations where a controlled, earthy green is required. It performs well as a background or support color that does not overpower primary elements. When specifying PMS 370 C, confirm lighting and finish in the target environment as both can meaningfully impact its muted appearance and undertone. This color reveals substrate imperfections less than brighter or more saturated paints, but care with surface preparation will help ensure uniform coverage. Compared to other greens in the PMS range, PMS 370 C is less vivid and more neutral, making it relatively versatile for signage, fixtures, and branded elements that require a more conservative or natural look.

Similar colors:
PMS 371 C – Presents a darker and even more muted olive green, resulting in a deeper, less reflective impression.

PMS 364 C – Exhibits a greener, slightly more saturated quality, increasing chroma and visual brightness.

PMS 575 C – Appears lighter and shows a more pronounced yellow undertone, giving it a warmer, brighter effect.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 370 C

What safety and VOC considerations apply when using paint matched to Pantone PMS 370 C?

The safety and VOC (volatile organic compound) requirements you must follow when using paint matched to PMS 370 C depend entirely on the paint type and format you order, not the color itself. Carefully review the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) provided with your specific PMS 370 C paint product, and always use proper protective equipment and ventilation as recommended. Follow all safe handling and application practices to ensure appropriate use in your workplace or environment.

How much area does one spray can of PMS 370 C cover, and how should I estimate quantity for my project?

A typical 11 to 12 ounce spray can of PMS 370 C covers about 20 to 25 square feet per coat. This estimate assumes smooth, non-porous surfaces and efficient spraying technique. For rougher surfaces, deeper colors, or when applying multiple coats for brand-critical projects, order extra product to ensure full and uniform coverage. Always plan for some overage to account for overspray and variations in project needs.

When I order paint matched to Pantone PMS 370 C, what exactly am I getting?

When you order a paint product matched to Pantone PMS 370 C, you are receiving a paint custom mixed to visually match the standardized PMS 370 C color target as defined by the Pantone Matching System. This match is based on color appearance, not on an official Pantone coating formula, ink, or material specification. Be sure to confirm the finish and sheen requirements of your project, as the supplied paint will be matched to the color reference and not to a specific original coating brand or process.

Do I need a primer before applying PMS 370 C paint?

Whether you need a primer before applying PMS 370 C depends on your paint type, surface material, and environmental exposure. Generally, primer is recommended when painting bare, porous, or hard-to-bond surfaces, or when switching between coatings with different chemistries. Using a primer can help achieve better adhesion, a more uniform PMS 370 C appearance, and longer-lasting results. Review the instructions for your chosen paint product and the specifics of your substrate before proceeding.

How quickly will I receive my paint matched to Pantone PMS 370 C?
All paint is custom-made to order. While most orders ship within 48 hours, the lead-time for paint made to match Pantone PMS 370 C depends on the type of paint needed. Interior and exterior house paints usually ship within 1 to 3 business days, while custom spray paint typically takes 3-5 business days to ship. The transit time depends on your location and the shipping method you choose. If your need is immediate, select Expedited Production during checkout. Most expedited production orders ship within 24 hours on business days. Please contact MyPerfectColor if you are concerned about a specific deadline. We do our best to make sure you get your paint on time. Learn more about paint lead times at MyPerfectColor.
Can I use the Pantone PMS 370 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.

Most people don't use a primer for a touch up paint application, but a primer may improve adhesion and is typically recommended for exterior applications.
How do I convert PMS 370 C to a different color from another paint company?

While MyPerfectColor can provide PMS 370 C in paint, we don't provide any crossover information. We've found that every paint company offers its own unique selection of colors and rarely does a color have an exact equivalent in another company's color collection, especially for a color collection like Pantone which is designed for bright colors and inks.
