PMS 374 C is part of the Pantone PMS collection, a standardized system widely used in professional brand and design contexts to ensure color consistency across applications. This color has a distinctively bright, almost fluorescent yellow-green appearance. Its vibe is fresh, energetic, modern, and attention-grabbing, making it well suited for projects requiring visibility and a contemporary visual language.

PMS 374 C is a light color, with a luminous and noticeable presence. The color shows a cool-to-neutral yellow-green tendency. PMS 374 C has high saturation, resulting in a visually strong and pure hue. The undertone is distinctly yellow, but shifted toward green, giving it a crisp, almost “neon” effect. This color’s brightness and saturation can cause finish and lighting sensitivity; high-gloss finishes may further intensify vibrancy, while matte finishes can reduce perceived brightness.

PMS 374 C works well for branded environments, prototype components, exhibit accents, and displays where color distinction and visibility are important. Designers should be aware that this hue can shift in appearance under different lighting types, especially fluorescent versus daylight, and that high-chroma greens and yellows may require additional coats for uniform coverage. Compared to other light yellow-greens in the PMS range, PMS 374 C offers higher vibrancy but may be more sensitive to substrate preparation and finish variations.

Similar colors:
PMS 372 C — Slightly lighter and more yellow, resulting in a softer, less green impression.

PMS 373 C — Close in tone but marginally darker and greener, appearing less fluorescent.

PMS 375 C — Noticeably deeper, with more chroma and a greener cast, offering a bolder visual effect.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pantone™ PMS 374 C

How can I maintain consistency if I need to reorder Pantone PMS 374 C paint for future projects?

To achieve consistent results when reordering Pantone PMS 374 C, use the same product type, sheen, and finish each time. Always use the Pantone PMS 374 C code as your target reference, and if possible, keep a record of your previous approval process. Variations in sheen or product type can affect the perceived brightness and color, especially with vivid colors like PMS 374 C. Lighting conditions and substrate preparation can also impact appearance, so try to replicate previous conditions for best alignment in brand-facing applications.

When is it appropriate to order a standard Pantone PMS 374 C paint match?

Ordering a standard Pantone PMS 374 C match is well suited for branded displays, marketing installations, signage, exhibit components, and prototype models where the visual target is the Pantone reference itself. This approach is appropriate if your primary goal is brand alignment and visible impact as specified by marketing standards, and you do not need to coordinate with OEM finishes or substrate-specific color approvals. For projects where appearance must be evaluated under custom lighting or on multiple materials, a custom sample may be necessary.

What is the difference between ordering Pantone PMS 374 C by name versus by code, and how does this affect my order?

Pantone colors are best specified by their exact PMS code, such as PMS 374 C, because the code uniquely identifies both the color and its intended use series. Color names alone can be ambiguous or lack important suffix details. For best results and to avoid ordering the wrong color, always provide the complete Pantone PMS code listed in your brand guidelines or project specifications when ordering. This ensures your project receives the intended target for consistent branding.

Can I use the Pantone PMS 374 C for touch up?

Unfortunately, no.

Some manufacturers specify Pantone colors as touch up for their products, but Pantone does not work well as a proxy for a touch-up solution (for a litany of reasons such as it doesn't include sheen and Pantone color tolerances are not tight enough for touch up). When we match Pantone colors we are matching to a swatch in a Pantone book - not to your product.

The only way we can provide a touch-up solution for your product is for you send us a part. We would use the part to create a touch-up grade match. Unfortunately, there isn't an effective way to 'spec' the color well enough to produce a touch up without the part.
